just to let those who are going know, Arcticfox and I have just booked our flight with JetStar to Melbourne for the conference on the 21 and 22 of May next year. They've got cheap flights at the moment, so those who are considering flying should check them out!!

We should all work out where we're all staying and hook up while we're there!!
EDIT: the conference is at the Cato Conference Centre at the Hotel Y on Elizabeth Street. The Hotel Y also offers accomodation, although it seems it can't be booked so far ahead as yet. Maybe a phone call? If we can get all of us staying at the same place, it'd be a blast!!

TK - do you have or know of an email for Steve and Cat?

 

I'll start to look into it soon. Jen and I are keen to go. Depends where the convention is, but the Kingsgate Hotel was decent (pricewise, the actual room was very average), close to the Crown Casino (where the Buffy con was that we went to) and there was a good nightclub that I went to until 5am just around the corner

 

I am planning to be there as well....

My bro lives in Melb. somewhere!! i always forget so will be a chance to catch up with him as well.

Just be sure to tell them your making the booking for a room during the convention.

 

I'm planning to be there, though I'll probably stay with family.

 

Looks like i might have to stay at hotel too, was planning on staying with my bro and his wife but they may be going overseas at the time (Lucky B******)

Will have to see closer to time, otherwise can i grab a piece of the floor to sleep with the people at hotel

 

Just an update for you peoples.

We're planning a special screening of EpIII on the Friday Night at Crown Casino in Melbourne.

So if you're coming over, aim to arrive before 6pm so you can make it to the screening.

We also have the Fan Film Festival and Costume parade on Saturday night, so make sure you bring you best costumes with you.

 

Where can I find more info on this? I *may* be able to find a way to go.

cool!! We'll be there in the morning, I think our flight arrives around 10 am...only that's at Avalon - exactly how far out of Melbourne is that, and how do we get to Melbourne from there??? It'll be fun to see the movie with others from the convention - do we have to buy tickets, etc?? Or are they included in the convention pricing?

We've got a room booked at Hotel Y, so not far to travel for the convention, and the reciept for the tickets arrived at Arcticfox's place during the week.....all set to go!! Just need to decide on a costume now!

 

Avalon is a fair way out from what I hear.

I think that I've met Sean Williams. He might have tagged along one day at Fantasy Book Club when it was still in Borders.... maybe. He does look familiar

They have a bus service from Avalon...it's about 45 minutes drive from the city....but it's all highway.

I'm still working with Village about the price of the tickets for the movie...I'll let you know when I hear.

I've never been to a SW con before... though been to plenty of others

 

I've done Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Babylon 5, and a few others.....but for some reason the Star Wars ones are always the best.

Must be the class of people you meet.

 

this is my first ever....but Arcticfox has been to a couple of other SW conventions, so he's sort of an old hand....to guide me, maybe! (lord knows, I need guiding )

 

Hey, which B5 ones did you go to? I went to 3 of them back in the late 90s

 

It was actually a "multi-Verse" convention.

Had Cladia Christian (sp?) and Robert Llweyellen (sp? again) from Red Dwarf as the guests.

 

I heard about that... wish I had gone

 

It was a lot of fun.

Robert is a great guy and Claudia.....well....

 

The funniest thing I heard from that con was a guy who asked Claudia to sign his stomach... I think.... crazy! lol She's one of only a few that I haven't met!

Regarding cons, I'm seriously considering saving my pennies and heading over to the Atlanta one year for Dragon Con.... maybe... it's very tempting!
