?Jedi skills in the Force are rooted in three areas. Control is internal. It is the Jedi?s ability to recognize the Force in himself and to use it to his benefit. Sense involves the next step, in which the Jedi recognizes the Force in the universe outside herself. Here she feels the Force and is able to draw upon it for information about the world around her. Through it she is connected to the rest of the universe. Alter is the third and most difficult area to master, for it involves the student?s ability to modify the Force and distribute its energies. Through these skills, the Jedi can influence the universe, making changes as needed to accomplish its goals.?
    -- Bodo Baas, Jedi Master

Control is the first of the Force skills which Jedi Knights are able to use, an internal skill which can be used to recognize the Force in oneself and in the universe. When employed, Control allows one to control their pain treshold, place themselves into a hibernation trance, remain conscious despite outside influences, increase their strength, triple their endurance and stamina, quicken their instincts and reflexes, leap incredible heights, run at incredible speeds, stabilize their heart beat, or maintain their body heat despite atmospheric conditions.

Sense is how a Jedi recognizes the Force in the universe around him. This flow of the Force tells the Jedi information about their surroundings. It increases their perceptions of the physical --as well as mental-- aspects of the galaxy. With it one can read another?s thoughts and emotions, predict his or her intentions, sense where and when and what life-forms are present, or even anticipate danger. It can also be used to peer through walls, or see beyond great distances.

Alter is the third of the Force skills which Jedi can master, as well as the most difficult. It involves the Jedi's ability to modify the Force and redistribute its energy. With it, one can project their thoughts, change another?s perceptions and thought patterns, manipulate their physiological aspects to a certain degree, move physical objects with a mere thought, and much more. To a more advanced degree, the sphere of Alter may also destroy objects, manipulate their molecular structure, and even produce and contain a certain amount of energy.

These three spheres can also be combined. With them one can see into the past or the future, increase another?s reflexes, heal other people, manipulate their metabolism, project thoughts onto others, affect minds so as to change their perceptions, absorb and dissipate otherwise harmful energy, or even display powers which resemble astral projection.

I also have an unofficial breakdown:

    Mind powers: mind tricks, illtions
    Movement: Choke, push, pull
    Sensing stuff
Alchemy: changing stuff on a molecular level
sorrcery: lightning, fire, ice (<-not from Supershadow by the way, these are from NEGC.)

a lot of the powers take on a few of those three main categories...

for example, you can use the force to increase your ability in combat, you use the force to Sense your incoming attacks, and increase your attack, which is how jedi can deflect blasters. The Control part of it comes in when you're actually meeting those blaster shots, and making your attacks strike hard and true.

take a look at this for more info
