Ok, this isn?t? my first time at rotoscoping, I have been at it for about 3 months. I noticed something, the frames are quite blurry, I mean if BA, or any of Ryan W?s films had been this bad, they would be bad. So I thought well, they use Canon GL?s, and the cam I am using (not mine) is a Sony HandyCam TVR-33, not to good, but hey at least it?s DV. Here are some examples of what I mean, this is me holding a toy lightsaber?

I bet it is the cam, but maybe not, at least I hope not..:(

Well, what I suggest is that you clean those frames up.

well how many ccd's do you have if it is about 1 (600,000 pixels) than that is a bad camera. What ist has to do is spread the pixels out farther so it looks bad. I think Gl1's have like 1,300,000 i am guessing yours has about 620,000 try to rent a better camera anything uned 2 ccd's isnt gonna produce great quality

well how many ccd's do you have if it is under 800,000 (pixels) than that is a bad camera.

No, mine has 460,000, and it's decent. Not great, but decent.

But, it's interlacing stuff you're seeing. And nice try showing us jpeg compressed images trying to get us to tell you your problem. :p

EDIT: They don't make 2CCD cameras. And, the 3CCDs in a good camera are directed at the three colors: red, green, blue (RGB). If you have a 1CCD camera, then it has to shove all those colors into one CCD. Hence, the quality is worse. I don't know much about the cameras themselves, so I can't go into much further detail.

Have you tried having the cam professionally cleaned? Could help. Only costs about $25 at Best Buy.

yea your camera only has 1ccd so it isnt gonna produce great results. I dont think cleaning will help much.

As I said, what's being seen is interlace artifacts. De-interlace it for better results.

I'm still searching for "perfect" methods if you will. But try Pixel's tutorial. Not sure where it is, though. It's OK, but not great. At least not on still images. I've never tried it on full-motion videos.
