Frankfurt.

It appears I may be spending 5 weeks in Frankfurt with work. What fun, anybody been there? What's the town like? (well it's gotta be better then Hounslow!)

BTW, Frankfurt is a lovely place, but the last time I visited there was an awful lot of Germans about.

yeah right, where did you get that from?

A couple of hundred years ago, when the "Franken" (people from an area called Franken) moved north, they had to cross the river Main and looked for a shallow spot. That shallow spot in a deep river is called "Furt". Later they built a castle to protect the "Furt". SInce the Frank´s discovered the "Furt", the city is called Frankfurt. Very simple.

Actually I´ve only been to Frankfurt once and I didn´t like it. Didn´t see more than the central station though.

well, yeah... did I tell you about the trip I made last Fall, Jean? When I stays at Senol´s for a night cause there was nothing left at the youth hostel? I went to Frankfurt the next day. the hostel there was completely booked out , too. So I had to call a friend who is studying "close" to Frankfurt. Had to go to Karlsruhe which took me about another 1 1/2 hours... Just wasted a couple of hours going to Frankfurt, never seing anything of the city itself.

Train stations are pretty much the only thing I know in a lot of german towns/cities

But when I come over to Bonn I think you may get to see more than just the train station there .....hopefully

 

I took the train from Cologne to Bonn once... I know Bonn´s underground, thats basically it.. except of the "House of german History"

Is Flo as good of a tour guide for Bonn as you are for Hamburg?

 

Dunno how well Flo knows Bonn. But Michi lives in Bonn, so he should be able to be a tour-guide
