For some reason I keep picturing Obi-Wan as Doc and Anakin as Dopey.
and Mace as grumpy...
Mace as Grumpy is perfect!!
I have just read my first Siriwan fic and find the subject very interesting. I like in the way I like A/T, but unfortunately Obi and Siri cannot be together unless in AU. I just wanted to let someone know that I've been on the boards for 6 month and never gave Siriwan another thought until now. I hope to read more.
Kudos to DarthMousche for her "hell hath no fury" vig that has lit the way.
Ooh, I'm working on a little fic for this! I'm about half done, but right now I'm grading World History tests.
I think I should clarify. I really like this fic beccause it stayed cannon to JA. I'd like to see other fics of the this sort.
I'm also working on the challenge, hopefully it will be done tonight.
Dopey Obi? Bashful Obi? how to choose?
Truthfully, I couldn't, so I've incorporated a bit of each of the 7 dwarfs in my fic.
I shoudl warn you, Obi-Wan gets very dopey but it's all in good fun, of course
I finally posted my Bashful Obi story!! Here it is, Mirror, Mirror On The Wall
*runs off to read fics*
Wait, was there ever a challenge for the Obi-Wan/Anakin early relationship?
No - just a discussion...but feel free to write a fic along those lines if you wish!
Or if you'd like I can add that to the list of 'challenges in waiting' we have?
Here's something Kes sent me. A must read for all Obi lovers looking for a very funny angle on our hero! Go look here
Great! And funny! Awesome article. Still working on my little ficcy. We shall see it soon, I hope.
Aww!! I totally loved that article!!
Fare thee well, sweet, sweet Obi-Wan. Whenever we needed a shot of sanity and a good strong brow-furrow, you really were our only hope.
I especially love that part.
Ooh, I finished it! I will definitely post it this afternoon!
EDIT: and here it is! Enjoy.
that was cute.
That's one of my favorite articles. When I first read it, I actually send the writer an email to say thanks for such a great piece.
Look! I posted my response to the challenge yesterday: http://boards.theforce.net/Message.aspx?brd=10476&topic=23078118&page=4.
OK, I got the book because there was no other way I was going to be able to read it unless I got the whole thing.
The title of the extra story is, The Last One Standing. It is a post-ROTS Obi-Wan story, but it's before the first Last of the Jedi books, so, mentally, Obi-Wan is in a sad state; it's a little dark. I think it's very, very good. Watson did a really nice job.
It is also only 18 pages long. Eeek! So, you could probably just read it in the bookstore. Or get it from a library. Watson's books are written for a younger audience, so they read pretty quick. I, unfortunately, don't read even Watson's books quickly enough for a good bookstore skimming, if there were a bookstore around here that I could get to anyway.
I suppose that they thought that they could coerce people like me into buying the book just for the extra material, but after everyone finds out how short the extra story is, I think they're going get an awful lot of book-grazers instead. They should have made it longer.
Due to a family emergency I won't be around for a few days...please feel free to bring up any Obi discussions, ideas, questions, etc...any thoughts for challenges please send to me or stella_ripple ...but discussions can just be brought up on the list!
Thanks for the book info ardavenport - it sounds good, if short!
I hope whatever is going on is nothing too serious, Kes.
Wow, great article!!
Hope everything will be all right Kes.
New Discussion! Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon...Master and apprentice...so many fics on the boards have Obi and Qui at the centre of them (and we thank you )...
What makes this pairing so wonderful to write and read about?
Leona and Kelia - thanks for your messages. My uncle is very ill and I appreciate your thoughts at this time.
I also wanted to point out an interesting and thought provoking online essay - which amongst other things discusses the relationship between Qui and Obi...it can be found here .
Welcome back Kes.
That is a great essay. I'd have to agree with much of it on how the author sees both Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.
My favorite fics have always been the JA type. They are such a wonderful duo, their similarities and their differences. I don't need the heavy angst-ridden ones where the friction between them sets them apart and eventually they find their way to balance. They both have their flaws and it's because of this that makes them intriguing characters.
