While chomping down on my lunch, I've been brainstorming some fun stuff we can do in 2009. We're not having a meeting in December, so I figure we can get a jump on what things may come down the pike. Given people's limited time due family/work, commitments to other creative endeavors, etc., I've come up with just a few. Feel free to offer yours. Winter/Spring - MarsCon in Jan. - Wattos Swap Shop in Feb. - Tidewater Tides Baseball Game in March or a charitable event e.g. Save the Bay - After meeting(s), Cantina Night @ 5 Guys, AJ Gators, Frankie's - of course, minis games Summer - After meetings, Cantina Night @ ShoreBreak - Picnic (somewhere?) - minis Fall - Masquerade in Ghent - Virginia Zoo Boo - Holiday Dinner - After meetings, Cantina Nights/minis games
They sound great. I will not be able to make most it do to being out to sea a lot. But you can count me in when I am in towm.
If the summer picnic doesn't pan out, we can also consider doing a Star Wars themed Pizza Party at a Place like Fuddruckers; i think our kids would dig that.
May2nd, 2009 is Free Comic Book day. The major comic book publishers will distribute a free comic book for the event. The goal is to have comic book fans visit their local comic book vendors. I seriously want to do Spiderman at a small vendor in Phoebus (Hampton). I know that other character fan clubs are crafting similar appearances throughout the nation. It's also the day after the national release of the new Wolverine movie.
we will, May is far off a bit. We've got some stuff lined up already for the winter. Click here. When are you heading off to the Merchant Marine service?
Nels had brought up a great idea of having an event at Jillians. What I had in mind was perhaps a Star Wars themed party for our members' kids. Something along the lines of what we had for Elijah's B-day at the bike shop about 2 years ago. Some of us dressing up if we have costumes (optional of course). Perhaps it would be good idea for June/July, something indoors, obviously? what do ya'll think?
