    Score!

I know the prequel Jedi didn't actually wear them, but they _ought_ to have...

Frustrated with the pouches on my Jedi costumes, I went to Crown Surplus and browsed the ammo and camo and stuff. I asked if they had any leather ammunition pouches or button-suspenders (another story) and got some bemused looks, but one guy remembered that they did have one French army belt left with 3 pouches altogether. This was my lucky day!

I've dyed two sets of the pouches dark brown and I am so in love with them! Maybe it's the paint fumes :)

Post some pics of your pouches Jen!

As for pen caps, I used Staedtler Silver Ball caps. They were easy enough to find at Staples. For me it was the plastruct hemispheres that were a pain.

Didn't someone use buttons to cover the ends of the pen caps? Where did you find the hemispheres in the end?

Yeah, I should post photos - maybe later today I'll take some. I should also actually put up the webpage I've been working on for ages...

I ordered the Plastruct (http://www.plastruct.com/) hemispheres from the manufacturer. I looked for suitable buttons, but had no luck.

    I used http://www.partsofsw.com/Ep_1/foodpel.htm as a guide.

I'm surprised that the hemispheres couldn't have been found at Chinook Hobby.

Hey - I finally uploaded some pictures of my updated Jedi costume with the new ammo pouches:

    http://members.shaw.ca/laughing-magpie/jen_jedi_front2_2005_small.jpg

It makes me want to redo my tabards _again_, and maybe get new belt buckles, and re-take pics in the sand somewhere - like I did with my first Jedi costume here:

Oh well, I guess it's never really finished!

When our cloaks come in we want to go to Drumheller and take some jedi-in-the-dunes pictures.

That could be a fun day trip for the group.

Excellent! I'd love to do that!

Funny - the 501st look like they are planning a rather similar expedition. Yes, I lurk. :)

very cool I know personly my jedi stuff is still I the works but I'm getting some good ideas from all of your robes and stuff. My wife made my self and another member of the 501st some but we still need to add the belt and stuff. It at the moment is all just soft stuff but then again my sandtrooper costume always comes first. But if anyone needs stuff made she would be a good one to ask she loves to make stuff.

    "all just soft stuff..."

    *sigh*

The trials of being a 'soft' costumer... We get no respect. Having worked with both the soft and the hard, soft is way harder!! At least more time-consuming with fewer tangible results until the very end.

:) No hard feelings though (pun intended!) :)

Keep us updated on your Jedi costume adventures!

Jen, I was just looking at your pics with the new ammo pouches. Superb!! It amazes me still how better-than-screen quality the Fanforce Jedi have become. If I hadn't sold my soul to the Emporer, I'd be tempted to invest in a Jedi suit for myself. :(

As for soft parts versus armor, there's a good reason why I glued or staped everything on my Sandtrooper. My hands + sewing machine = bad mojo!

    Thank you!

I actually did re-do my tabards, obi and belt (as well as Raj's Jedi belt) over the past week. I like the tabards in the pictures above but they are just a little too wide, meanwhile the obi was a little too narrow and I wanted to use some of the lighter coloured wrinkled fabric I have that's much closer to Obi-Wan's. I now have quite a few mix and match tabards/obis :)

The belt now has a hidden closure in the back, a small silver clasp on the narrow belt in the front and silver rivets instead of gold. I can't wait to finish my new lightsaber to go with it! Maybe I'll have to stop wearing a Padawan's braid once I've made my own saber. :)
