    That's a really good one.
My number-one spelling issue is when I've been IM'ing and I forget to change back to normal language!

Recently, posting under the KOTOR_Index sock, our intrepid indexer made the following hilarious typo: "the whompering locker."

There's a "whimpering locker" in KOTOR, and it's possibly my favourite minor character. But the "whompering locker" sounds like a mad cross between that, and the whomping willow. It's like a locker that reaches out and whacks you if you get too close!

Man. I should've kept one of those on guard in my dorm. :p

One of my co-writers (Non SW) misspelled teat for tear. The hilarious thing was that she did it twice in one piece of writing! She also misspelled **** for shirt! But it made absolute sense! It was a fight scene... "He buried his hand in her ****." She's never lived it down!

How about I found out this morning that I've been misspelling "Kriff" since I got here?

That's not at bad as me having a whole story with "wookiee" spelled wrong...gotta go back sometime and fix that.

This isn't exactly a misspelled word, but a missing one -- I wanted to write:

"Suddenly Mooni was hurled across the desk."

    But what got written was:

"Suddenly Mooni hurled across the desk."

That sort of changes the meaning. [face_whistling]

FWIW, Chewie's species is spelled "Wookie" throughout the ANH novelization. :D

    Ardavenport - That's certainly a big difference! [face_laugh]

I was looking over a script I wrote a while ago and noticed I've had the same typo in a set of stage directions since draft one. I'm on draft five or six. I felt pathetic.

I did that once too, only that it's for ship!

and you should go thru my anatomy notes and see how many words I misspelled in that notebook lol

    abdominal=abomin... something.

And I keep mixing Ayla from Earth's children with Aayla Secura, and I'm supposed to be a fan of both!

this one showed up in the jedi Vs. Sith game on Facebook:

Count Dooku, without the o in 'Count'

would probably get banned if I said the word but got a chuckle out of it

You know Wes Janson, don't you? Well, I wanted to write What's up? and now Wes has become a bag "Wes up?"

The best one was Babelsfish though. I used it once to see how it would translate one of my English fics into German (since I was too lazy to do it myself:p)

    Then this sentence:

"Leia extended her hand and Wes shook it."

was suddenly (it was in german, but the same meaning here):

"Leia lengthened her hand and Wes joggled it."

    Weeelll.
Or I tend to write taht instead of that and tehn instead of then.

My notes for class are a mixture of missspelings enough to scare SpelCheck, which has long failed my fanfic.
The 'hurled across the desk' mispellling was reallly good.

I was talking to a guy in the Fanforce who admitted to having read my Pink 5 stories. One of my favorites is the first meeting of Han and Pink 5 and I blurted out, "Have you the read the one aobut Han and Stacey mating?"!

[face_laugh] I had a experience much the same when a russian friend of mine wanted me to translate one of my fics, featuring Tsavong Lah, into russian. So I plopped my fic into babel fish and had it translated, just for curiosities sake, I reverted it back to english and all seemed pretty much ok...except for Tsavong Lah's new title.

With Babel fish and my fic writing's powers combined "Warmaster Tsavong Lah" became...

-The master of the war the Tsavong of the Lah-

Lost in translation? I think so..

I like to translate on my own, since BabelFish loves to mangle things. You should see what it did to the libretto for the Requiem...
I almost wrote sine instead of since. Now that's one part of math I liked...

Here's one I just did a few minutes ago. Landpeeder for landspeeder.

"Oh, yeah, now we can go." Owen said as he jumped into the landpeeder.

    That just sounds wrong! [face_laugh]

I should not read this thread while drinking coffee. Or anything else, for that matter.
Any good mispelllings from my latest fics? I found a typo in a textbook, 'is' instead of 'his.' Oh yes...various manglings of Skywalker. And Tahiri. I always mix up Tahiri, the character, with Tahari, the line of designer clothes. It's getting annoying.
Actually, the most annoying mispelling I have now is Daala (character) and dalla (Italian preposition/article combination). The two words are very mixed up in my notes and fics.

This one happened in a French lesson.
There was that picture and we had to describe it.
We had to name the man on the picture...and the others told me, we should name him "Claus Champier."
At least that was what I heard.
Then I started to talk about Claus and how we should describe him...until I noticed the funny looks they were giving me.
It turned out, that they had been talking about a "Jean-Pierre" all the time. Oh...me and my ears...now the others think I love champignons...

This was actually more of a mishearing than misspelling, but: Stencil Washington.

And I saw a site use "embiggen" for enlarge.

Edit: Apparently, I don't know how to spell.

Okay, get this. I write the word council more times than counsel, so i was writing a paper for counseling class and kept saying council instead of counsel and never noticed until my professor made a note of it.

also, sometimes when i go to write 'with the' i write 'withe'.

On my computer, I have it set to correct 'YV' to 'Yuuzhan Vong.' I was writing what I had planned to be "Jaina turned herself in to the YV" but it came out as "Jaina turned herself into the TV."
That was really too funny and made me think of Harry Potter and human Transfiguration right away.
