I know Coruscant was the NR capital in most of the books but what was the NRs capital pre capture of Coruscant? also do you think Mon Cal will stay the GFFA's captital sense they get back Yuuzhanta'r/Coruscant?... pretty mangled

The GFFA's capital is Denon(Coruscant-like Core world unaffected by the Vong invasion... how convenient) as of TUF, and the capital will be Coruscant once it's rebuilt.

If anything, Mon Calamari, but I don't think they had one.

As Guy said, new capital is Denon, a major Core World unaffected by the invasion that just happens to show up now.

They spent some time on Endor in the Marvel comics after the Death Star. Borleias was captured as a staging point for Coruscant's invasion, though it was never intended to be the seat of government.

That, and the government went into hiding on Da Soocha after the Imperials kicked them off of Coruscant. Of course they were found again, and relocated to Nespis after that before returning to Coruscant.

There was no formal capital for the NR in the time between Endor and Coruscant. They were a stateless entity, going wherever they could find refuge, even if that meant hiding out in deep space.

After Coruscant fell to the Vong and before the government was reestablished on Mon Calamari, where did Pwoe and his cronies keep their main seat of power? Even though they didn't have legal authority, they still had political clout, and whever they planted themselved could be considered a de facto NR capital.

Well, that was the point of capturing Coruscant; to give legitimacy to the New Republic. Without Coruscant, the New Republic is nothing. It's leaders hunted, scurrying from one place to another. Though many worlds openly declared their allegiance to the NR, the NR had not seat of government. It was a government in exile. Perceptions are important to the galactic people, and therefore, Coruscant was needed.

Which is why after the recapture of Coruscant, the Republic kept a face of continuity and continued the government on Da Soocha, then Nepis VII. After the Fall of Coruscant to the Vong, the NR was in a state of limbo, no thanks to stupidity and inept leadership of the Senate. Fortunately, many had the sense to reestablish the government on Mon Calamari, which was subsequently relocated (the government went into hiding). Then to Denon for the time being before it returns to a Coruscant that is really different.
