    From a PM I received...

    Greetings.
The St. Louis Fan Force is hosting a Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds tournament between the fan forces.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Galactic Battlegrounds is a real time strategy game for PC, very similar to Age of Empires. It currently has one expansion (Clone Campaigns) which will be required for this tournament.

Each Fan Force may select two representatives. To make sure that players are actual fan force members and not just someone joining the boards to get in on the tournament it is required that all those interested have joined the boards in Aug. '04 or earlier. We encourage the players to be active members of their respective fan force so that we can cheer on our friends/fan force/city/etc...

Jedi_Dajuan is in charge of the tournament. Any questions or concerns should be addressed to her. All players need to contact her by September 12th to give her enough time to set up the schedule. The games start the week on September 20th.

For official game updates visit the Official Game Thread on the FF community board or on the StL board.

    The Rules

If more than 2 people from each Fan Force wish to play and the fan force cannot decide amongst themselves who their representitives will be, a preliminary round will determine which members will be allowed to play.

All those wishing to enter must notify the game master, Jedi_Dajuan, by 9/12/04 via PM. A tourney bracket will be created by the start date.

Players must be a posting member of your FF since at least August of ?04 before the start of the games.

You will need the Clone Campaigns Expansion pack to play. Also be sure to download the update from here. If you do not download it you will not be able to play.

    Cheats are to be disabled.

    All Civilizations are allowed.

All games but the final will have the following specs:

    Type: Random Map

    Map Type: Star Wars Local

    Location: Random

    Map Size: Normal (6 player)

    Resources: High

    Population: 250

    Reveal Map: Normal

    Initial Tech: Standard

    Victory: Standard

The final game will be a Death Match.

Each round will be one week.

It is the players responsibilities to make sure their games are played in this time. If you have a very busy schedule and are unable to be accomodating, please do not enter.

If it appears that one week is not enough time, the time may be extended.

You will be responsible for contacting your opponent and figuring out times that will work for you. Thus, when regestering, please provide any contact info you have to allow your opponent to contact you (Email address, AIM, MSN, etc...).

Players are also responsible for determining which of the two shall host the game.

Both players will need to PM Jedi_Dajuan the result of the game. Be honest. If someone is found to be cheating/lying he or she will be removed from the game and banned for 24 hours.

    Players may forfeit if necessary.

Be polite to one another. Friendly taunts are fine, but nothing board unfriendly.

Prize is titles and colors for the winning player, and bragging rights for the winning city.

Games start the 20th of September and will continue until finished.

Please help us get the word out by informing your Fan Force!

    Thanks,
    Dajuan

I'd rather it be Battlefront rather than Galactic Battlegrounds. That would be funner in my opinion. That game is like chess, it goes slow. I'm not too great at it so I wouldnt be a good rep. for it. Maybe someone else plays it. Goodluck people!

I was never a really big fan of this game. I just didn't like the engine. Something about Vader chopping a building to ruins just doesn't excite me. If I were to play a game like this online, it'd be Force Commander.

I've played Alliance now THAT is an antiquated game. I do not play any other games right now besides on a rare moment I'll play Rise of Nations or Ages of Empires. Something old & familiar I can play quickly, get done with and move on to the next thing. A parallel to my life. ;)
