    Bueno, lo prometido es deuda, nada de imitaciones, acá pura calidad...Se abre la galería de arte, donde se mostrarán ilustraciones de conocidos artistas gráficos del mundo de starwars, y por qué no, de algunos fans también...

    Abro el Thread con Dave Dorman, creo que la presentación sobra, sólo basta con decir "Dark Empire", "Jóvenes Jedi" (las portadas), etc

    Encontré esta entrevista al Maestro Sanda...Queda más que clara una respuesta para tu pregunta Mandalor

    Meet Tsuneo Sanda...
    [image=http://www.starwarz.com/tbone/images/interviews/sanda_top.jpg]
    What first attracted you to Star Wars?

    From the time I was very young, I was interested in fantasy movies and novels. That?s why I think I was able to enter into the world of Star Wars so easily. I also liked Star Trek very much, but in comparison, the story development of Star Wars has a good tempo and unique and attractive characters as well.

    Tell me how your involvement with Lucasfilm began and when.

    The first work I did for Lucasfilm was a poster for Star Wars fans in 1994. I recall how enjoyable and exciting it was for me to work on the theme of the ?Millennium Falcon.? But around that time I was mainly doing Star Trek work, and so during the following three years I did only two or three Star Wars pieces. It has only been since I did the ?20th Anniversary? that I became seriously involved with Lucasfilm projects.

    How did it feel to go to Skywalker Ranch and see many of your pieces on display there?

    Until my visit to Lucasfilm, I could not even imagine it. But when I saw my work there, I felt my heart beat fast, my body lift up, and I could not speak. I remember just looking at them as if they were someone else?s pieces. I did not understand why my pieces were hung in this great gallery. When I met Mr. Lucas and was told that he is collecting my artwork, my heart stopped for a moment. I am very proud that my artwork is decorating Lucasfilm.

    Have you any favorite influential artists? Who do you like from the Star Wars artists?

    My favorite artists are Ren Magritte, Andy Warhol, and Rembrandt. One other person I respect in all aspects, and not only as a Star Wars artist, is Mr. Drew Struzan.

    Who are the easiest/hardest Star Wars characters to draw?

    The easiest Star Wars characters to draw are R2D2, C-3PO, BobaFett, and Darth Vader. There are no characters that are especially hard to draw. I like them all.

    How long does it usually take you to do a piece from reference materials? What's your general process?

    When I work on characters, I need a lot of reference materials as I am not able to observe the real characters. It depends on the theme, but generally the time I need to do a rough sketch is about one week and to paint is about 10 days.

    I use pencils to sketch to detailed parts. Then I use acrylic paint. I use airbrush too, but basically I use Japanese brushes to draw. When sketching, I think of light and shading before I think of anything else. They provide the feeling of depth, three dimensions, and space which are indispensable in giving dramatic expressions. The one thing to remember is to always keep the image of the finished work in mind.

    Are you impressed with all the Eastern parallels in Star Wars?

    I was not particularly aware of that, but probably because I am Japanese. In Star Wars, I suppose, it is the costumes that most closely express Eastern concepts. But I have never thought of Star Wars as being Eastern in and of itself. We Japanese view Star Wars as a Western story. There are old Japanese tales which tell of similar struggles between ?good and evil,? and maybe that?s why we feel a connection to Star Wars.

    How much Zen and Tao are really in Star Wars, in your opinion?

    That is a difficult question. I have not reached the stage where I can say I understand ?Zen.? It may be that simple living -- putting all unnecessary thoughts out of my mind, fervently trying to cultivate myself, believing in myself without fear of death, searching for the ideal ? share common characteristics with ?Zen.?

    Now I understand your whole family is made up of artists! How did this happen and do you think there's a future for them in art?

    My family? I don?t know what will happen in the future. Only God knows. Of course, in the beginning, their choosing art as a field of st

    Por que olvidan a Ralph McQuarrie ? recuerden que fue el que gracias a sus dibujos se pudo financiar Star Wars (The New Hope)

    Ralph McQuarrie nació el 13 de junio de 1929 en Gary, Indiana y ya desde niño era un apasionado del dibujo. Seguía los pasos de sus abuelos, artistas, y su madre, que también dibujaba y pintaba. Estudió el itinerario artístico en el instituto, y comenzó a trabajar en la Boeing Aircraft Company como ilustrador de sus diseños aéreos y espaciales. Allí, compañeros de trabajo que habían estudiado en la Art Center School de Los Ángeles, le recomendaron ese centro para seguir perfeccionándose. Siguió esos consejos y se graduó en la especialidad de ilustración.

    En la década de los 60 realizó secuencias animadas para la NASA y la cadena de televisión CBS para las retransmisiones de las misiones lunares Apolo. Aunque también había trabajado para Litton Industries y Kaiser Graphics, fue esta labor la que llamó la atención y pronto recibió ofertas para realizar ilustraciones de fondo para películas animadas y pósteres. A principios de la década de los 70, uno de los trabajos que realizó fue para Hal Barwood, quien intentaba que algún estudio produjera una película que quería dirigir junto con Matthew Robbins. George Lucas, amigo de Barwood, vio los dibujos y quiso contar con él para una aventura galáctica que tenía en mente.

    Para ayudar a los ejecutivos de los estudios a visualizar sus ideas, Lucas habló con McQuarrie para que las plasmara en imágenes. Sugirió que hiciera un acercamiento desde el punto de vista de representaciones "ideales" en lugar de limitarse a lo que podría hacerse realmente.

    Posteriormente a esta labor de artista conceptual, McQuarrie, que de niño dibujaba camiones enormes y laboratorios científicos fantásticos, continuó contribuyendo a plasmar en imágenes la galaxia de George Lucas y otras películas como Encuentros en la Tercera Fase, Cocoon (por la que ganó un Oscar), E.T., En busca del Arca Perdida y Desafío total. Además, también ha ilustrado portadas de novelas de ciencia ficción entre las que destaca "Sueños de Robot" de Isaac Asimov

    [image=http://www.gmclain.addr.com/site/programs/Star_Wars_Screen_Tests/Early_Princess_Leia_sketch.gif]

    Curiosidad: Además de ocuparse del diseño Ralph McQuarrie forma parte del universo Star Wars ya que como muchos otros realizó un pequeño cameo en las películas. El papel adjudicado a este genial artista fue el del General Phral McQuarrie (como podéis ver apenas se trastocó su nombre) y era uno de los mandos militares rebeldes en Hoth. El personaje, del que os inlcuímos una imagen, no es muy conocido entre los aficionados "normales" pero si entre los jugadores del SWCCG ya que este general tiene su propia carta.

    Acá les dejo otro talento del dibujo, se hace llamar Aurélia

    I showed my face in 1978, I?m French and I live in the Lyons region, more precisely in the Beaujolais.

    Favorite technique: graphite on smooth paper. Most of my drawings are made with graphite because I?ve always thought the black and white portraits had much more charm than the ones in color.

    Hoy destaco en esta galería de arte a alguien con quien he tenido el gusto de tener contacto vía email, y vía messenger con su novia (el que sabe tener contactos sabe:cool: ). Un dibujante de un estilo distinto que incluso mandó sus saludos al equipo de Renacimiento, una vez que vio el sitio...Ojalá venga a Chile como me dijo en un futuro no muy muy lejano.

    Con ustedes el gran Ramón F. Bach
    Ramón Fernández Bachs (Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona, 1973) estudió durante cinco años en la Escuela de Cómic Joso de Barcelona, periodo en el que dos de sus mayores influencias fueron Bruce Timm (Batman: Amor Loco) y Jeff Smith (Bone). En 1996 se presentó en socidad con Manticore (Camaleón Ediciones), un número único con guiones de su compañero de la Joso Josep Busquets que sorprendió a propios y extraños y que tuvo excelentes críticas y tan buen resultado que realizaron otro especial y una miniserie. Todo este material fue recopilado posteriormente en tomo por Planeta-DeAgostini Comics, algo muy poco común en el mercado español. Muchos consideran a Manticore su mejor obra y su personaje más carismáctico, y el propio Bachs ha comentado que le gustaría retomar al personaje algún día.
    Paralelamente, Bachs realizó un puñado de cómics para el mercado español: Yinn (miniserie de cuatro números) y su "precuela" Castor&Pollux (número único), ambos con guiones de Josep María Polls, profesor de la Escuela Joso; y Saturn Babe y Fanhunter: Goldenpussy, dos números únicos con guiones de Josep Busquets.
    En 1999 le fue concedido el Premio al Autor Revelación (ex-aqueo con Sergio Córdoba) en el Salón del Cómic de Barcelona, el más importante de España, y poco después daría el salto a EEUU trabajando para Dark Horse en la miniserie Joker/Mask (2000), tras la que ha ido encadenando diversas miniseries ambientadas en el universo de Star Wars para la misma editorial. Además, ha realizado el especial Striker Z dentro del "evento" de presentación de la serie regular Power Company de DC Comics, y varios números de Gen13 para DC/Wildstorm.
