    When I went to the exhibit in NYC just as season two was starting, there were a bunch of Frey fangirls in line next to me who were cosplaying as the wedding band. Nobody much noticed, but I did turn to them and say "really?"

    I feel like if they pulled that stunt now or especially last year, reactions would be different.

    No man, book fans learned after Ned not to get too attached. If they forgot, the Red Wedding reminded them.

    It's TV show fans who get hurt, surprised, and angry when a fan favourite dies. "WHY U KILL OBERON, GRRMARTINS? HE MY FAV!"

    I'd argue that the books aren't as kill-happy in terms of favourite characters as it's seemingly known for. Yes, Ned Stark and the Red Wedding are big ****ing deals, and if the ADWD thing sticks, that'll be the biggest death of the series so far. But most of my favourite characters are still alive. Yeah, I think that was intentionally vague enough to stay in this thread.

    By the way, I'm rewatching Season 2 and I think that's where the original scenes started to make no ****ing sense. Why the hell would Littlefinger just blurt out incest in Cersei's face when he spent the entirety of the first season/book setting up Ned Stark to do that exact same thing?

    Eh, the Littlefinger thing makes sense though in a way.

    It makes sense because Littlefinger spent the entire first book/season setting up Ned Stark to do that. With that he basically tells Cersei "I know your secret and I don't care" which, given he was in on the Jon Arryn plot, as well as eliminating the primary threat to Cersei and her family almost single-handedly ties him more to her and puts him in her trust.

    Because, you know, he's playing everyone...
