Anyone feel like because of this, that if you kill this guy, all the other White Walkers and zombies will just die too?

Brienne has one of the swords forged from Ice, called Oathkeeper. It was supposed to be Jaime's, but he thought she deserved it more.

For Valyrian steel swords, there are still some in play:

    Longclaw: Jon Snow
    Oathkeeper: Brienne Tarth
    Widow's Wail: Tommen Baratheon
    Heartsbane: Randyll Tarly

I'd say zombies/whiles maybe, white walkers no. If he was that pivotal to their cause, he's a bit thick being so front and centre, because an obsidian tipped arrow could end their threat from a safe distance.

I am interested in knowing what his waking the dead powers range is?

There are far more Valyrian swords than those. (Unaccounted-for swords include Blackfyre, wielded by Aegon I and Daemon Blackfyre-- named for the sword; Dark Sister, last wielded by Bloodraven-- tree guy Bran meets; and Brightroar, ancestral sword of House Lannister). There are about 200 in Westeros. Many noble houses have one.

    Other points:

The shot of the 4 horsemen was awesome.

For people from the UK, did anyone else hear Arya mention saving for an Oyster card?

Is that an improvement over his predecessor being the Emperor? ;)

Well, "Hello" is really Old Germanic for "go **** yourself with a sharp pole" so it's not like we can talk.

Steel is a composite, so there's nothing that says that Valyrian steel couldn't incorporate it. Given the main component of obsidian is silicon dioxide and that silicon steel has a higher melting point than normal steel (around 1500^C versus 1150^C) it fits with what we have been told and the tendency for authors to source their ideas from basic pieces of science.

I just checked the book. Waymar Royce's sword is described as "a splendid weapon, castle-forged, and new-made from the look of it. Will doubted it had ever been swung in anger."

I guess my only question would be whether or not it's plausible for the smiths to notice the higher melting point and not anything else about it. Would a metallurgist notice the silicon the same way an alloy with another metal is noticeable? I guess it's hard to project my mind backward to a state where somebody might know the properties of steel but not the science behind it. Guess that's part of the basis for magic, along with actual magic.

But yeah you've a point that these are sometimes sourced in real science. The folding of the steel is based on Damascus steel after all.

I can't help thinking of John Goodman's character in Matinee saying (of Mant!) "this film is based on science-fact!"

It's Game of Thrones, guys, the ancient ice-people are reanimating corpses to storm a magic wall.

I hope not. That plot device was lame when Star Wars did it, and it was lame when The Avengers did it.

And especially lame in that board-game "Chess". Sure, you've taken my king, but I've still got my horseys and a pope left, why should I give up? We fight to the last man or nothing.
