I know 77-78 has a higher PER, but for the life of me I can't understand why.

DarthIntegral I'm still keeping Payton's year at 1999-2000 since he had the most assists overall and was third in steals, added with his highest PPG output and his highest rebounding output. However I will be changing Karl Malone's year to 1996-97

There should have been a rule in which you have to stick with the year you originally chose for a player.

PER isn't everything. It's a good starting point for a conversation, but it's not a slam-dunk argument ender. And, really, once you get outside of your cornerstones, I'd care more about supporting stats than PER. You get your 2-3 super duper stars for these teams, and then you find the right pieces around them. Part of what I like about Yak's team - that Interior Defense is scary. Damn scary. And, he could keep building on that. It's an interesting strategy.

Meh. I think of it like this. They are dropping the player they drafted, and signing the same player in a different year as a free agent.

So... What bothers me is that (besides it may have been early for Rondo) Rondo is just better this year, from all reports, than he was in the year I got him. Which should happen considering he hadn't peaked then as a player. But his stats were better in that year. Does anyone know how the simulator deals with stuff like that?

Did you just bring up Rondo being better this year right as news of his torn ACL broke?

I didn't take him even though his stats are pretty good. Obviously the simulator can't take this into account, but if you look at his stats from the NBA just two years later there is a sharp decline(okay, a small decline) from his ABA years--a testament to the lack of competition in the ABA maybe? I think probably.
