Games GBG Tourny

Good evening gentlebeings! The Games Forum administration brings to you all phase 1 in a summer games program that we hope to be a huge success. The first main feature consists of a Galatic Battlegrounds Tournament that features up to 16 contendors playing in 1 v 1 mode, winnar take all.

Prizes will consist of 24 hour VIPship for every victor (to encourage people actually playing their required game) and a week VIPship for the winner.

The losers will receive nothing. Not even a ban.

Signups:

Unfortunatly in order to prevent socks and new users coming in and pwning the entire contestants we are limiting all users for the singles compeition to have a registration date of May '05 or earlier. The team based one will have a cap at June '05 or earlier. Its not much of a cap but it is something.

The signups will begin tonight and will end on the 25th of June or whenever we are filled. Please add yourself to this list:

The Rules:

1. No cheats allowed.


2. You may be any civilization you wish.


3. All games but the final will have the following specs
:

• Type: Random Map


• Map Type: Star Wars Local


• Location: Random


• Map Size: Normal (6 player)


• Resources: High


• Population: 200


• Reveal Map: Normal


• Initial Tech: Standard


• Victory: Standard


4. No Clone Campaigns will be utilized and everyone must have the latest patch.


5. Anything that one can do in the game (bar outright cheating) is permissible. One may rush and/or use spynet. Take no prisoners. Show no mercy. Do what must be done. Kill your enemy.


6. You will be allowed 5 days in which to play your game. If a longer time is needed the game master will need to approve it.


7. If your designated game is not finished by the required time you and your opponent will be disqualified from the game.


8. All games *must* be recorded


9. Both players will need to PM Errant_Venture, RileyMan the result of the game. Be honest. If someone is found to be cheating/lying he or she will be removed from the game and banned for 24 hours.


10. The host of the games will be determined by the players. Whoever has the fastest connection, and no home network, should host it.


11. Players may forfeit if necessary.


12. Be polite to one another. Friendly taunts are fine, but nothing board unfriendly.


13. Prize is titles and colors for the winner

In the upcoming weeks we will see other contests including a GBG team based tournement (presuming the 1v1 does well enough), but along with a trivia contest, JO/JA/Battlefront tournies and an X-Wing tournament as well. We hope you all enjoy these tournaments as much as we do and happy hunting!

I assume that would count as a loss.

And how are you going to pair up opponents? If you do 'randomly' I would like to see your algorithm, because I don't trust you.

 

Guess I'll have to enter the trivia tournament then.

What happens if Venture or NP or Solo wins something? Can they have a funny title again?

 

Quest made up a beautiful bracket thingy that we'll use. I'm not exactly sure how we decided to do the pairs though.

Venture and I decided to only join if we were short players. As I know our GBG skills, I don't think us winning will be an issue. But if we did I think titles would be it.

 

I don't know if I will play, but it sounds fun.

 

I'll sit this one out. You can count me in for trivia and the X-Wing ones, though. Possibly JO and JK.

I hope this goes better than the team tournament I tried to organize awhile ago that spanned 3 games. That fell apart rather quickly...

 

I don't think I'm good enough to do the X-Wing one, I'm still stuck in some stupid Rescue mission or something in Tour 1

Personally I think random will be more fair (I can set that up easily). But, as Quest said, let's see who all signs up, and what side they pick and go from there.

I'm not actually participating as a competitor; I'll just be helping a bit in running things.

 

MTM why not try? No everyone is going to be great at every game. You have nothing to lose.

Also, maybe 16 is too much? It's gonna take weeks to fill that up, if 16 people even have this game.

And if both players have CC, why can't they use it?

I might join but I really don't like GBG and X-wing series games count me in!

 

I'm in. I don't have a ton of extra time though, so the hours i can play are somewhat limited.

 

We'll see how fast people fill it out. If at the end of 5 days its not filled we'll go from there.
