Hey all. The upside of losing a whole season means the Leafs will have the most balls in the lottery for the number one pick in the 2013 Draft! Who will probably be Nathan McKinnon.
Well, I guess that is the upside for Toronto. I guess they'd do the lottery the same way they did last time.
I've pretty much resigned myself to the idea that we're not going to have a season this year. I don't see it happening.
This is bloody ridiculous. And I got into NHL last season because I thought it was a real sport. Professionals don't do this crap. Ugh.
As the NFL creeps towards the end of the season, I get more and more miserable about the prospect of a spring with no hockey
Well yeah I watch Mizzou basketball (watching the game now). But that's only until March and I like hockey a bit more.
Lockout goes to Federal Mediation. Crosby closer to playing overseas Edit: Here's something interesting I found via Wikipedia about what the Stanley Cup's fate could be should the entire season be canceled. It's a consequence of the last Strike:
Let's face it here. The NHL has had more lockouts in like what the past 20 to 30 years then the NFL, MLB, and NBA. So how is it those leagues can work things out better then the NHL? Part of the problem is the have to many teams in area where they don't have a fan base and you have players and owners that just don't seem to care as much as in the other sports.
Doesn't help that this time the NHLPA has Donald Fehr, who was the MLBPA head during the '94 strike that cost Baseball the World Series that year.
I'm watching college hockey, NCAA basketball, the NFL, and college football until there bowl games are done. The NHL and the Red Wings are really loseing me as a fan. Oh I still like the Wings which if the NHL goes under I really hope the AHL picks up the Wings. But the NHL I'm sick of both the owners and players at this point.
All games through the end of the 2012 calender year have now been cancelled. The Sharks gave out free tickets to a San Francisco Bulls (Sharks' local ECHL affiliate) game next week to all Sharks season ticket holders this past week. This includes me even though I only buy a 10 game pack every season. It's not the same as the much preferred full season of games with NHL level talent but hey, free hockey tickets!
So I'm switching over to minor league hockey for my hockey fix. We have the ECHL here with the Grizzlies in town. Go Grizzlies I guess /shrug?
Sounds like Canada is going to have a good team for the Spengler Cup this year. Seguin and Spezza are two of the big names I'm hearing so far. Crosby is considering it.
