Hockey is a team game. Subban turns the puck over a ton, which hurts his team.

And now he doesn't have Gorges to cover his mistakes. Don't get me wrong he's an asset on the PP but defensively he leaves something to be desired.

Dallas is looking like a formidable top six. Could make for a seriously potent power play as well, especially if Klingberg makes the team at D-man and is as good offensively as I've heard.

Next year we will have Cole, Gonchar, and Horcoff coming off the payroll freeing up something like $15 million. I will be shocked if Nill doesn't go get a big-time UFA Defenseman.

Those things taken into consideration, I can't think of a team that looks to have a more favorable upswing over the next 2-3 years.

Everything I've seen from the Dallas Front Office in the last 2-3 years has impressed me. That, and Jamie Benn may be my favorite player who isn't a NYR, I think that kid has immense talent and is an excellent captain at age 24.

Brian Boyle was close to signing with Toronto before he signed with Tampa

Hurts my heart losing Pouliot. However, I guess it's better knowing he's in the one place where I know he'll do no damage in the near future.

Don't know a ton about our signings - always been a big fan of Dan Boyle, but he's past his prime. Good that we held onto Dom Moore, but I hope we do a little more with this Richards money than signing an aging defenseman.

Tampa got Boyle and Stralman. Both will be excellent for them. Devils' move for Cammalleri has to be the best of FA so far, Stastny to STL probably second.

Boyle's obviously not going to be their #1 or even #2 d-man. He'll probably just be a powerplay specialist, which the Rangers could certainly use.

For 4.5 mil a year, he damn well better be the best powerplay specialist in the NHL.

Also, the Capitals are totally insane. 5 years, 27.5 million for Brooks Orpik. What in the world.

Well, at least in was in Ottawa. You never know what you may contract when you touch someone in Philadelphia.

Benn is definitely a class act, I think. And Nill is forcing me to admit that the Red Wings are a good organization even if I hate the team.

Our goaltending situation makes me nervous though. As much as I like Kari Lehtonen, I really wish we had a goaltender like your guy, Lundqvist :p

Haha - he is the King.

Lindback will give Kari some relief throughout the season and give you a solid #2 - no way he's bad as he was in the playoffs, and he was effective relief for Ben Bishop at a time when Tampa was the best team in the East.

Yeah, I was a little concerned about Lindback BUT I'm certain he's an upgrade over Tim Thomas.

I don't want to be misunderstood; Kari Lehtonen is a great goaltender, possibly elite when he's at his best, but he's just not shown himself to be clutch.

How did the rangers do yesterday, btw? I knew they had some possibly big departures but I was so busy doing a happy dance after Spezza and Hemsky happened that I wasn't able to pay as much attention as I wanted to.

He's not young, but he's young enough to grow with this team. You'll get better pieces around him that will improve his play, I think. Definitely a lot to look forward to when it comes to your club.

Also, kudos to Chicago for getting Richards for 1 year and 2 million. That's a huge bargain, even considering he's 34 - when you can get that kind of talent on that kind of a low-risk contract, it's a sign that people want to play for you, and that continued success is likely.

Leafs sign Finnish player Petri Kontiola. He paid 400,000 out of his own pocket to cancel his contract with his European league to play for the Leafs. Clearly he wants to be here and that's a good thing. Leafs are only paying him 1.1 million.

Frank T.will be tripping on life with this news.

Toews and Kane both have new 8-year deals as of today.

    A little too much.

Kessel and Ovechkin make only $500K less. If anything they took a discount.

They'll be 3rd/4th the year the contract kicks in.

Plus the fact that the Rangers will still be paying him for the next few season too. :p

The Hawks had to sign those guys, but when it costs them better bottom six players because they can't fit them under the cap, it'll hurt more then.

Also, Drew Doughty is a steal at 7.1 a season.

The problem with Crosby is not his wrist. It's his legs.
