Wang sold the Isles today. I have total faith that they will remain totally irrelevant.

Darth-Lando - what do you think about SJ stripping Joe Thornton of his captaincy?

It wasn't that big of a surprise based on what Doug Wilson and Todd McLellan have said already this summer. I don't think it means much of anything though. The title of Captain is honorary at best. The natural leaders are going to naturally lead regardless of what letter they wear on their chest, if any. It's all very similar to when Marleau was "stripped of the C" 5 years ago after our first round loss to Anaheim. He had a performance boost the next year without the added pressure, maybe Joe will do the same?
This has just been a weird summer for the Sharks. I predict Pavelski gets the C with Thornton and Courture with A's.

But Mr. Lando Sir, the same question remains, will the Sharks ["Chokay, get your Chokay here"] again this year. [face_mischief]

Sharks will go wire-to-wire as the first team in NHL history to win 82 games in a season. Then they'll be swept in the first round.

Work suuuuuucks. Stepson had tickets to a preseason game that he doesn't need but I won't be home.

What do you guys think the west ends up looking like? I've got Chicago, LA, and San Jose finishing top three in no particular order, with Anaheim, Dallas, and St. Louis coming next. Wild cards I can see being Colorado (who I can't imagine not regressing some this year) and in the interest of picking at least one non-playoff team I'll say the Wild falters and either Pheonix or Vancouver take the 8th spot.

Of course this could all be totally different, just some first impressions.

I know that Chicago will be good. That's about all I know for sure until we get the season going.

    Making some guesses..

San Jose, Anaheim, and St. Louis, I have no idea about - they're great regular season clubs, but we all know how that story ends each year. Colorado and Dallas are well-coached, young, and exciting (Dallas needs some defense) - I look for them to make a move up, and some of the streakier teams like those aforementioned and LA to dip.

East is a hodgepodge, as well. I'd have to say Boston is the favorite, my Blueshirts and Pittsburgh will likely dip, but probably still near the top of the division, no confidence in any of the Canadian sides. Just so weak in comparison to the West.

Anyone want in on Fantasy Hockey this year? MandaloreYak and I generally run a league through ESPN, always looking for some good, active owners.

PM me if you want in.

San Jose was awesome last night. I hope they give Big Joe the respect he deserves.

The Leafs on the other hand were sloppy.

No it isn't, considering the Leafs 1st goal was clearly off side. The first and second goal by MTL, Bernier should have had them both IMO.

Oh well, new season same smell.

Anyway, for you Canadians out there, did you enjoy Sportsnet bungling last night? The amount of on air errors was atrocious. Drops to black, no sound on numerous occasions, and announcers looking at the wrong camera often. Brutal. Pretty bush league stuff. TSN did a much better job.
