Arrow nodded in confirmation to the Manhunter. The situation went dire when Superman went missing. Metropolis was no ordinary city. For better or for worse, Lex Luthor had made it one of the world's most technologically advanced places on Earth.

"Manhunter, or...Jonn, I think all of us here are in agreement that Justice needs to be served and no one is going to back down from the idea of a league that serves the good guys. Now let's get going."

Arrow looked to the other members in hopeful agreement. Frankly, some of them had been working alone from the beginning and only had formed temporary alliances for the greater good once or twice, as he and GL had done. The deduction of one of them would not set them back that far. Loners had to cope to changes and Arrow had been a loner.

"Manhunter, or...Jonn, I think all of us here are in agreement that Justice needs to be served and no one is going to back down from the idea of a league that serves the good guys. Now let's get going." The Green Arrow said to their benefactor.

As he did so a warm smile formed over Marvel's, almost letting him forget about Magog. Almost. Marvel looked over at Steel and the others and lifted up the signed poster he held in his right hand.

"And that's the reason I asked for his autograph. There will be a time when the agreement on how to handle criminals is necessary." Marvel said softly, staring at Magog for a brief intense second. "But that can wait while we handle the punks in Metropolis. Agreed?" Marvel asked offering his hand to Magog.

In reality Marvel knew the success of their first mission together hinged on whether they wanted to work together or not. Marvel had to make sure they did, it was the whole reason they where brought together. He just had to make sure that they stayed together...and that Magog didn't do anything stupid.

OOC: I think I'd like to say that Magog had exited the room (or the immediate room) after the argument with Marvel. I guess I can work it in that he wandered back in after a time... *poetic sigh*

IC: Magog, the New Man of Tomorrow
    Meeting Room, Exact Location Unknown

Magog fumed outside the immediate area, still within earshot of every hero present, his every mannerism showing how cross he was. Heroes fought among heroes from Magog's understanding, but it certainly wasn't true. The cultural hero diffusion and veritable ?justice shock? if the term were accepted, was only affecting Magog and Magog alone. Then he managed to think the situation through a bit more and realized that he wasn't wrong: he just wasn't being understood in the manner he would have liked. He didn't needlessly kill villains and he didn't kill without mercy: he killed those who were a threat to the safety, and sanctity of justice. They wouldn't trouble freedom any longer...

Then Magog overheard something from the nearby group that he never expected to hear from one of the ?boy scouts?. It was the man encased in the steel suit who was accurately named Steel. ?Oh come on mercy? Obviously this great evil has to be stopped and permanent ends might be the way.? Inside, Magog could only smirk.

Magog continued to be off to himself, tapping his finger impatiently as the more time that they wasted in this dimensional space, the longer the world was without them for heroes. And then he heard the words that caused him to further have faith in this ragtag group... and who better to tell him than the Manhunter. ?... I have been unable to detect his presence for some time. It's almost as if he was gone entirely..." Magog knew that Superman could have the ability to be fallible, and even in the Earths greatest time of need, even if he were contacted by the Manhunter, he would flee. Magog was sure that he, the New Man of Tomorrow would fill the former role of Superman and exhibit through his actions on the battlefield that he was capable of being something of a ?replacement?...

He overheard Green Arrow's faith in Superman and couldn't help but laugh. He laughed out loud a moment and decided that those without powers often put their faith in a posterboy, and that wasn't what a group of heroes would do. If Superman were dead, would they all stop what they were doing and use the last minutes of Earth's time to mourn? Magog sure as hell wouldn't.

He then felt the steely glare of Marvel and turned, Magog's eyes flashing with white-hot energy as the man spoke to him. In reality he blocked out every word, but even his subconscious picked at the words and made sense of the ?justice gibberish? he expected from Marvel. ?I'll do things as I always have, and just know that if they have a superweapon aimed at your face Marvel, I'll let you have the time to try and talk them out of wiping out a hero who stands in the way of their destruction of Earth instead of rushing in to save you.? Magog moved forward, brushing shoulders roughly with Marvel even using some of his super-strength to use the impact to know that he'd be part of the group, but that he wasn't so set on relinquishing his ways just because someone in red pajamas told him to.

    Abilities:
Due to his father being the subject of a covert military experiment designed, Piecemaker is endowed with traits that would make him the ultimate soldier.
The "vitamin" and "antibody" shots that his father received while he was in the military were actually discreet hormone therapy treatments. While it did not affect his father, the traits were passed onto his two sons.
Primarily, the treatments cause Piecemakers body to store up abnormally high amounts of conductive metals in his nervous system, specifically copper. His body also produces vastly more electrolytes and epinephrine than a normal human being and uses them more efficiently as well.

This results in Piecemakers reflexes, reaction time, visual acuity, mental capacity and processing, and spatial awareness are all very much superhuman. Piecemaker can wield two pistols with seemingly perfect accuracy, or make a 1000 yard shot with a small caliber rifle without difficulty. His sight and sense of touch are developed to such a high degree that he can feel the displacement of air and react accordingly, and see in detail in situations where most individuals vision would be significantly reduced.

His enhanced abilities also allow him to be an excellent vehicle pilot,

While the use of firarms is his primary means of combat, Piecemaker is also a profiecient close quarters fighters, utilizing a fighting style that blends Krav Maga, Doce Pares Eskrima, and street fighting tactics that he learned during his youth.

Piecemakers is able to parallel process thoughts and ideas on the level of some super-genuis level individuals, however his scope and breadth of knowledge is very limited in comparison to said individuals.

In addition to his superhuman abilities, Piecemaker engages in intensive conditioning and training, keeping his body in top physical condition and peak capacity.

Having spent four years in the Coast Guard as leader of a boarding team, Piecemaker is familiar and profieceint with a wide array of firearms, and is also familiar with combat tactics, guerellia warfare techniques, psychological warfare, investigative techniques, and "hard interrogation" measures.

Last but definetly not least, Piecemaker is an adept rescue specialist, utilizing his skills as a paramedic along with advanced field medical techniques to keep those alive where others may not.

    Weapons/Equipment:
In keeping with the origin of his moniker, Piecemaker wields a wide variety of fierams. Although they range from basic shotguns to outlandish things such as neuro-scramblers and zero point displacement emitters, he is

Hal grew angry when he saw Magog bump into Marvel on purpose. He imagined himself knocking him across the room. Hal was good with the ring, to good but he hadn?t realized that everything he imagined and had the will to do was made a reality.
Energy burst from Hal?s ring and slammed into Magog clear across the room. Hal thought of apologizing but then realized that Magog might have deserved.

?Take that you bastard. Were supposed to be working together!? Hal then stopped and breathed slowly berating himself for acting so suddenly. ?Sorry I shouldn?t have done that. But please we have to work together.?

Hal trotted over to Magog and offered him his hand.

Location: Making a not-so-grand entrance into The Space Between Spaces

"Stop you B*****D! Or I swear to god I'll plug you in the back!"

*To drive his point home, Mitchel Black, known to Chicago and an inditerminate amount of people outside of the midwest as The Piecemaker un-holstered one of his pistols and shot a brick outcropping less than a foot away from the miscreant he was attempting to chase down.

"What are you doing!? Bad guys dont carry gu..."

*That particular jibe was cut off because Issac Bowin AKA Fiddler opened up a gateway, jumped in, and re-appeared two roofs over. Earlier he would have used the other fiddle-like device that opened gateways into other dimensions and made a clean getaway, but Piecemaker had put a stop to it by wrestling it away from him and bashing the career criminal over the head with it. The only reason Fiddler had gotten away was due to one of his hypnotized victims at the Symphony Center.

Fiddler, a longtime headache from Keystone City, had tried to pull of a major heist in Chicago, hypnotizing the crowd, orchestra, and crew in the hall and make off with a haul worth millions. However, he had not done his research and counted on nothing other than the Chicago Police Department showing up.
So when Piecemaker had dropped in and ruined the entire heist, his priority had now become that of evasion and at this point possibly survival.

Right now it looked like a distinct possibility, because despite Piecemakers prowess and excellent physical condition, the aging and out of shape criminal had a device that looked like a violin but could grant him trans-dimensional moves.

Fiddler then did something very vilian like and rather stupid considering who was tailing him. He raised the device and grandstanded, attempting to taunt the young superhero.*

"Proof that my acumen is greater than yours you young ruffian! You won't wi...!"

*In mind monolouge, the gateway machine exploded, struck at high velocity by a large pistol slug placed squarely in the center of the fiddle-shaped device. Still running forward and leaping across alleyways on rooftops, Piecemaker re-holstered the pistol. Not counting on anything other than the criminal to fight or run some more, Piecemaker tried one more time.*

"Give up and I wont beat you as hard when I get there! That's more than Manotaur could say!"

*True to form, the old man decided to run, but apparently knew the younger fitter and above all much more angry superhero would catch up with him in a hurry, since in that time he had closed the distance and was on the same roof as him. With a cursory glance over the side, Fiddler vaulted over the side of the roof, intending to land in the dumpster that was four stories below him.

However, Piecemaker followed suit right away. As he was vaulting over the side to follow fiddler, he had produced what looked like a flare gun, but in actually was a 20mm grenade launcher, already loaded with a stun net round. His intention was to tie up the crook as he fell into the dumpster and land on top of him, simultaneously cushioning his own blow and ensuring the little creep wouldn't get anywhere in a hurry.

Piecemaker quickly accounted for velocity, wind, and angle, pointed the launcher, pulled the trigger, watched the net fly out and expand on its way towards the Fiddler...

And then his world became nothing but a series of neon flashes and a sense of being in a billion places at once, none of which were pleasant.

Just as quickly as the sensations had started, they ended, and Piecemaker crashed into what felt like grass or really thick carpet rather unceremoniously. While no major or even minor damage was done, since Piecemaker was still by and large human the force of the impact knocked the wind out of him and jarred the launcher loose, sending it skittering off into some sort of wall.

Unfortunately he did not have time to try and ascertai

Jim could not believe that Magog was behaving in such a child-like manner. Did the man not know that despite his appearance, Captain Marvel still had the innocence of a child playing hero, with the exception that this child could actually be hero. Pulling his shield to his chest, Jim stepped forward after a moment of watching the other members.

"Jonn, albeit some differences, I think we are the team you were looking to gather here. I don't know where Superman is, but Metropolis does need our help and if we really are-"

He was cut off by the appearance of another hero, one that Jim Harper recognized as the Peacemaker. It appeared that Jonn was gathering an ever larging group of heroes.

"Basically, Superman has done alot for the world. I think we can pick this one up."

All this arguing was going to prove problematic in the future. J'onn did not need any visions to inform him of that particular piece of information. Nonetheless, right now the cries for help were too great for him to ignore.

"My apologies for the brevity of this introduction, PieceMaker, but I am afraid I will have to be dispatching all of you to Metropolis this very moment. It seems something very serious is occurring there at this moment."

With a wave of his hand, the heroes vanished as suddenly as they had appeared.

J'onn sighed. Hopefully this would all work out as planned.

    Daily Planet Offices, Metropolis

The general state of affairs in the office was, for once, easily summarized: Total fear. The building was gradually beginning to tilt under the continued blasts from the villains below, and Superman was nowhere to be seen. Finally it seemed as if only one more blast would level the foundations completely, dooming them all.

Lois bit her lip and closed her eyes, prepared for the inevitable. And then came the flash.

    GM
The heroes arrive in Metropolis directly before the Daily Planet building, which is being assailed by multiple thugs with plasma cannons. It seems as if the building will collapse any moment now.

    ... And go!

I do not know whether or not the machine is large and visible, but if it is not, then eradicate the last part of my post from your memory...[face_hypnotized]

    Green Arrow
    -Metropolis

When the PeaceMaker showed up, Arrow grinned. PeaceMaker was the good ole hero who wanted peace and justice and was willing to smack a few heads around for the cause. He had a hippie air about him sometimes, especially when you got him started in a debate, but you definitely could not pick that up so easily. Arrow would have gone over to embrace his old komrade with a conversation if the situation was not so dire.

In the next second, they were down in Metropolis outside the Daily Planet. The building was leaning over and there was evidence of very large blasts as the result. On the ground there appeared to be assailants with plasma cannons, which was a common characteristic in Metropolis these days, entering the building and surrounding it. Green Arrow had an arrow flying towards one of the goons in a flash, dropping the thug midstride. He still had the arm, but this looked like it involved some of the brain.

"Fate, I'm pretty sure there are people up there who need to be transported out and I don't know if we are going to make it up there in time. Think you and Marvel can work some magic?" He was grateful that Batman was there. He had more brain than most or else, of course, he would be dead by now. Magog and the Guardian had the strength to take out most of the goons and the PeaceMaker would definitely come in handy. Where was the Martian?

"Bruce..." There appeared to be a large machine, definitely the cause of the damage to the Daily Planet, standing erect direct opposite from the news building. Arrow was already looking for a way to damage the machine, but that obviously did not become apparent within the first couple of seconds of observation. There was only one way to attack this problem and that was, well, to attack the problem.

Needless to say, arrows began to fly.

    IC: Piecemaker
Location: Exterior of Daily Planet building

*With nary a warning or an explanation, Manhunter whisked them through dimensions again, this time to some city somewhere.

While not as bad as the last trip, Piecemaker vowed to avoid inter-dimensional travel after this whole fracas was done, and at the earliest convenience question the Manhunter in depth. And by question he meant demand answers, and if none were forthcoming then beat somebody with one of his telescoping batons until Manhunter did volunteer some useful information.

After shaking off the initial confusion, he quickly surmised that
    A. He was now in Metropolis (hard to ascertain, since the only clues were the big sign in front of the building that said "Daily Planet", the police cruisers that said "Metropolis Police Department", subtle clues like that.)
    and
    B. there were armed men with high tech weaponry that really didn't care who was on the receiving end.

With that knowledge, Piecemaker simultaneously activated his metal head cowling and pitched himself over the nearest cruiser in time to avoid getting burned by the superheated plasma shots.
The two officers who were taking cover behind said cruiser were surprised to say the least, but were quickly dissuaded from attempting to take down this new interloper when Piecemaker grabbed the barrels of both of their guns, held them away, and spoke.*

"Easy officers! I'm on your side! Whats the situation?"

*While one of them looked confused as to whom this new interloper with the strange metal mask and processed voice was, the other at least watched some national news programs and recognized him*

"Hey, youre Piecemaker! That nutter from Chicago! We should arrest you, but right any help would be good. Multiple subjects armed with really high tech stuff, AND they have heavy duty body armor."

*Piecemaker nodded in confirmation, then grinned under his cowling when he heard the noise he was listening for.
While Plasma cannons were fearsome implements, they had two big disadvantages in comparison to other weapons.
Firstly there was the heat problem, which caused the weapon to either explode or shut down if the user was not careful.
However, more importantly, Plasma weaponry needed some sort of confinement medium in order to extend its range more than a few feet from the barrel. So while the plasma ionization chamber would run out slowly, the confinement casing would either delay firing or run out quickly, such as in the case of these thugs. Piecemaker had his own plasma cannon and had rectified that problem somewhat, and currently was glad that he was the only one with that kind of technology currently.

While they were busy swearing and re-loading, Piecemaker executed a forward roll away from his cover, pulled both of his pistols in mid roll, and in his own way quickly evaluated the situation.

For enemies in his range of vision, two midway between the cops and the front door that were reloading, two near the door that were acting as pseudo guards.
This evaluation was done as he was just coming out of the roll, in less than 2 seconds, and the decision and actions came a nanosecond later.

Pointing the pistols in a crossed fashion, he fired one round from each of them at the two thugs that were closest to the police and civilians.

While largely considered low tech by most superhuman citizens of the universe, Piecemakers ballistic weapons used some very advanced technology.
The pistol bullets themselves were unique to him only. Meticulous calculation by a gifted gunsmith ensured that the rounds carried the same velocity as the vaunted .45 ACP round despite being a full caliber size larger, a .50 caliber round.
Additionally, he exclusively used caseless rounds, with the propellant being a gel rather than powder, ensuring that he would usually have other bullets than the other

IC: Magog, the New Man of Tomorrow
    Meeting Room, Exact Location Unknown

There was a brief moment where his actions taken against Marvel would have been seen as more hostile than need be, and before the Green Lantern could act upon it, it must have been halted by some cosmic entity. Perhaps the Manhunter. Magog thought otherwise...

Within an instant, the Martian Manhunter had sent the heroes sprawling from whatever dimensional pocket they had been in towards a more violent Metropolis...

    Metropolis, Outside the Daily Planet
Magog stood among the chaos and extended his arms as if welcoming it. There was so much going on at once that he was sure that every hero would have their hands full with certain snippets of the battle. Instantly, his eyes began to glow with terribly intense, white-hot energy as he raised his trident skyward, the metal tip aimed straight at a plasma-wielding thug. He let several bolts of energy, perhaps equally, if not more powerful to what the thug could use, directly at him, knowing that while one could decommission him, several would keep him from taking out the heroes without invulnerability. Likely, any civilians in the way would be harmed, but Magog knew that in war, collateral damage often occurred.

"Hey Goldilocks! Get over here, there are some people in the Planet that didn't like the last issue of idiots using advanced weaponry! Magog blinked once and then twice. Was... someone ordering him around? What the hell? Magog gave the man a lookover, shaking his head as he pushed civilians out of the way heading towards the Piecemaker, taking notice of the grenade in the man's hand. Magog smirked and his eyes went wide as he shoved the hero down to the ground to shoot several more bolts of energy at a thug about to send Piecemaker to the Land of Oz.

?You should watch your back or you'll end up extra-crispy...? Magog said with a scowl, looking towards the grenade in the man's hand. He could understand the use, but he didn't necessarily know the plan. Grenades were simple things, so David was taught: pull the pin and throw. Magog pressed the heavy frame of his back against that of the Piecemaker's and spoke keeping his trident ready. ?What's this plan for that grenade of yours??

Green Lantern turned the other heroes already had the ground. He mine as well rescue the people inside. Holding up his ring he issued a large hand. As he did he zoomed towards the building. He created a machine that could seen through walls with his ring and slowly scanned the building. He would have to get the people on top out first.

Hal Jordan directed the hand into the building however he changed his mind. A giant hand wouldn?t do the trick! He grinned. He could use the ring to create several carbon copies of himself. He knew it would be energy consuming but if he sent an astral projection of himself in there he would see a first hand account of the damage.

Hal focused hard creating the carbon copies than sent them into the building. He first sensed Perry White, Olsen, and Louis Lane he managed to grab them with his copies.

?Hang on!? He directed the astral projections to yell as they plunged through the wall.

Hal grinned when he managed to get them to safety. Than he directed his attention to the others.

    Metropolis, Outside the Daily Planet

This was four kinds of a train wreck... Noose thought as he watched his gang members get their lilly-livered keisters kicked into submission by this group of superheroes. Where had they come from, anyway? Was it possible they had some kind of teleportation device, without a watchamacallit tube like the boss had mentioned? Where was this mysterious partner of X's with that tube thing, anyway? Thirty seconds to go. Thirty seconds too long Noose grimaced, as he watched with increasing frustration as the hostages were saved by yet another superhero with some kind of glowing ring thing.

"An absolute TRAIN WRECK!" he spat, stomping in frustration as the hostages were getting away, his thugs were getting knocked over like bowling pins, and X's partner was nowhere in sight.

Wait a minute! The hostages... that was it!

Carefully working his way over to the hostages out of sight of the superheroes, Noose happened upon a particularly flustered looking dark-haired woman...

    Metropolis, Outside the Daily Planet

Lois had to admit, she had to count her blessings. Superman was still nowhere in sight, but these other superheroes had showed up and begun to handle the thugs. And the one with the ring had even gotten them all to safety. Perhaps it would all be oka...

Her thoughts were interrupted as she felt a choking, fleshy sensation about her neck. What on Earth was...?

"Nobody move!" her assailant called out, increasing the hold slightly. Lois felt as if she could pass out. "You, superhero types! Back down, or I send this little damsel to meet her maker!"

Lois' eyes widened as another fleshy appendage wrapped her arms together, preventing her from fighting back.

"Well?!" the assailant continued, "What's it going to be?!"

There's still time to act before this occurs, though, so RC and Rally, you can go ahead and finish whatever you're doing, and then you should probably address this turn of events. Everyone else, you have a few more days before the PMs come out, unless you've posted recently.

IC: Piecemaker, outside of Daily Planet building

*Piecemaker was about to get up and punch Magog for the shove, but the instant the thug dropped, he cursed himself in his head*

Stupid! Situational awareness you moron! Remember!

*Pressing his back against the wall again and pushing Magog to do the same, he let him in on the plan*

"This is a 20 millimeter grenade round, a smaller but more advanced version of the kind that the armed forces use. Its an immobilizer, meaning it shoots rubber balls, makes lots of noise and light, and creates a huge smoke cloud that is hard to see through.

When I bang the back of it, it sets the fuse, meaning its live. What im going to do is throw it through that gap in the glass around the corner.

When it goes off, we're going to charge into that lobby with at least 8 guys and beat the holy hell out of them. No projectiles or blasts, its too close and we might hit each other.
Oh and try to hold off the killing part unless you have to. The boy scouts of this miserable group have an aversion to it."

*If Magog had replied, he didn't hear it. Piecemaker banged the end of the grenade and stepped around the corner.
In high school, Mitchel Black had been a left fielder in baseball, and would have gone pro had he not felt a certain obligation to serve his country.
Those skills came into play once more as he hurled the activated grenade through the aformentined gap in the glass panels. As he stepped back he heard the dull thud then the angry and surprised shouts. It was time.*

"Alright big man, lets see if you can kick some ass as well as you can yell at Green Lantern!"

    OOC: Cue said earlier music...

    IC:
*With that, Piecemaker charged around the corner and at the lobby. Before crashing through what was left of one of the glass panels, he reached to his hips and grabbed his extending heavy batons and extending them.

The confusion had worked, but his estimate had been slightly off. There were more like 10 perturbed henchmen, and while a few were reeling from being struck in the head by stun balls, the majority of them were only minorly confused.

Undaunted, Piecemaker came crashing through the panel, which would have been spectacular save for Magogs bullrushing charge in the other side of the lobby which sent debris flying at a frightening velocity.

Once again, the thugs showed a propensity for a running attack at a man wielding a pair of weapons. This time it looked like the guy had a baton of his own, making the counter only slightly different.
Piecemaker lunged froward, lashed out with his left stick and caught the thug at the elbow, rewarded with a telltale pop, baton drop, and scream. However the other baton was on its way, this time striking the thug at the transition point of his neck and shoulder, causing him to gasp for breath and double over, where his head met a swiftly rising knee.

One thug down, who knows how more, and with no help from everybody save the golden beserker

*Piecemaker had called Magog that in his head because he could hear what was going on on the other side of the lobby, and it sounded pretty damn ugly for the bad guys.

His next opponent squared off at him, but Piecemaker feinted and managed to get him to commit to a wild left haymaker, which was rewarded with a swift baton strike to his gut and a second one to the base of his skull.
However it served to give what looked like an opening to a third thug who managed to actually get a hand on Piecemaker. He was surprised to find that Piecemaker had also taken a few hints and lessons from not only Batman but Thomas Jagger, known as the new Judomaster. The thug found his wrist in a vice-like grip and being flung with a surprising amount of speed and force.
Piecemaker called out across the lobby*

    "Heads up! Incoming!"

*He called it as he was turning, r

The goons were no match for the bundle of metahumans. Magog and PieceMaker made short work of their side of goons while Arrow effortlessly laid down five goons with two net arrows. The villains were left sitting on the floor puzzled and then angry. The hostages had been saved from the building, but now a strange new presence introduced himself as he wrapped up the easily recognizable Lois Lane with his body.

Green Arrow used the PieceMaker's voice as the distraction he needed while he utilized his trained reflexes and reached in his quiver of arrows and shot a liquid nitrogen arrow towards the appendage around Lois' neck in the blink of an eye. If it hit, and Arrow rarely missed, it would a freeze the "noose" and keep it from strangling the woman.

Arrow had already drawn another arrow and was aiming it.

?I suggest you think of a new profession madam. I doubt they pay you enough for this.? Marvel sighed as he looked down at Lois Lane. With in less than a one hundredth of a blink of an eye, he stood next to her. He liked this whole super speed dealie! He hadn?t been truant in school for a whole year!

He looked at Noose, almost wanting to ask the man how he gained his weird unearthly powers, but then decided to close his mouth. He already got a hard enough time with Magog. He didn?t want a repeat performance.

Using his Super Strength, Marv el lifted his hand high in the air like an Ax, and brought it down towards the arms that were strangling Louis Lane. He hoped Arrow and Piece Maker took care of Noose while he helped Louis out, he didn?t want to win the battle and lose the war.

"Oh, realllly cute, whatever-your-name-is. I'm wise to you guys' game. You don't kill people, I'm not so dumb that I'd..." As he was speaking, he noticed a rather painful, practically burning cold emanate from his finger. He screamed aloud, and somewhere in the burning he felt his fingers being yanked loose from his hostage's throat. "Son of a simian!" he swore, glancing at his finger. Red and agitated, some type of cold liquid or something. Then he noticed what was holding it.

"Superman...?" No, that wasn't right. The color scheme was off. As was the logo.

"It doesn't matter, anyway. The plan's more foolproof than you fools give it credit for... We haven't lost yet!"

As if on cue, a deafening noise suddenly emanated from nearby.

    BOOOOOM!

A massive circular hole appeared adjacent to the office building. Dozens of masked troops, armed as the thugs had been, came pouring out of the opening and started shooting up everything in sight. Echoing reverberations only confirmed what seemed like a logical conclusion.

"Oh, now I remember! Boom Tube," Noose explained with a cocky smirk. Looks like X's partner was true to his word. "We've got over a thousand armed troops swarming all over Metropolis now. This city belongs to Intergang!"

Jim stared at the distinctive shape being emitted by the spotlight. The department had given him a bit of crap about it, true, but on the whole this "Batman" fellow seemed to be on the level. He lit his cigarette. "Now if he'd just show up..." he muttered.

As if on cue, a black shadow landed near the roof entrance.

"Glad you could make it." Jim began, taking a draw. "We've had a series of rather bizarre crimes lately. Seemed to me like they'd be up your alley, so I called you here."

He pulled out several photographs and handed them to the man. All detailed a series of victims. Some had eery grins plastered on their pale, dead faces. Others had bizarre riddles sprawled out in their own blood. A disturbing number had both. "No prints, no traceable weapons, nothing. We have no idea who, or whom, is pulling these things off. But obviously we're pretty sure it's the same guy."

He took another draw. "To top it off, that DA, Harvey Dent, went missing a few days ago. They found this..." he handed the figure a piece of paper, folded into fourths, "In his apartment. Think you could look into this stuff?"

As Captain Marvel and Green Arrow confronted the elastic fleshy being, Jim heard a terrible boom from across the street. There was a very large hole and lots of goons were pouring from it. With guns. Big guns. Assuming the situation involving the young woman was being handled, Jim ran off with his shield in hand.

Goons were shooting everywhere recklessly. Cars, buildings, and worst of all people. Jim responded in kind, blocking the shots with his shield, and began to tear his way through the wave of criminals, taking many of them and slamming them into anything. Walls, cars, and his personal favorite, the ground. He loved the cloned body because it had strength and speed, better than his old body had ever been.

Jim met one goon who had just witnessed him throwing one of them through a restaurant window. "Don't do it. Don't. Do it." Jim warned, but the bad guy decided to test it and shot anyway. Jim blocked it and it reflected back into the guy's chest, blasting him back several feet.

"Punk." Jim said before running off and tearing through more of them. His count now was 23. It would only go up.
