Well, I am having internet problems...

It seems to cut out during the day at the moment, apparently they are doing work on the transmitter (I have mobile broadband)

But a lot of people have left, so...

 

Yes, I read about that.

How long will thsoe repairs go on?
And what is a mobile broad band?

I can't even type up an sms on my mobile...

 

I am not that good at typing on a cell either, though I can I usually don't and it takes me two minutes to write one word when I do.

 

And we dare call ourselves writers.

 

Yeah, at least typing on a cell is not a requirement for calling oneself a writer. Besides, I hear they have a very short character limit.

 

Mine has 160 characters (letters and spaces etc.). I dunno, you get used to it and then you get faster.

 

160 characters? Sounds like I'd have to economise the adjectives.

 

Mine's 160 characters as well. I'm not particularly fast, but I manage well enough for the limited amount of texting I do. Don't have internet on my phone, though (could, but don't really want it)

 

Or just sennd several. 160 characters is still 2-3 sentences. Plus, "wanna meet for coffee" doesn't take much, so I'm good with it

 

no wonder people came up with acronyms like ttyl, g2g, brb, lol and others.

 

Well, that's just as much because people are in a hurry all the time and trying to save precious seconds typing

 

Seconds? I could save minutes typing. usually, I just call beacuse it's faster.

 

what about those people who spend hours talking in nothing but acronyms? seriously, I once knew someone who texted everything with acronyms for hours and so did the person they were talking to. I found it rather strange...

 

Compare that to some who won't ever answer the phone but will always respond to texts

 

I just don't get some people.

 

Weird, both of those. But the nice thing about texts is if you don;t have the time or desire to have a conversation - or you're in a place where you can't - you can just type them a message without being at the computer.

 

The people I talk to online are usually not those I call on the phone. Ceillean might be the only exception there.
But a text is convenient if the other doesn't answer the phone. It'd have to be very important, though, before I did it.

 

Mobile broadband isn't on a mobile phone. You get a dongle (which I think is a mobile phone modem...) and plug it into a USB hole.
Trouble is this is the only internet access I have, so it is very annoying...

 

So you know how mobile broadband works with a cell phone, but not about the birds and the bees?
