Technically, it's probably okay to say what you say. However, there's no point in antagonizing other people or groups. Just because others do it to Americans or to a particular group doesn't mean it's therefore okay to do it to others.

Take the high road and leave it at that.

People from Quebec aren't the only French Canadians. In fact, Les Acadiens (my people) were here not only before them, but before most other (if not all other) European settlers (Vikings don't count as they never actually settled here, just had a few temporary fishing camps). By saying French Canadian, French-Canadian, or Canadien you are including Les Acadiens in that group. By saying that French-Canadians know a lot about surrendering, you are implying that my people know about it. In fact, we have never surrendered. During the wars in the 1700s we had the **** kicked out of us by the British, and most of us were deported to France, South America, New Orleans (eventually becoming Cajuns) and other areas. But others (my ancestors included) hid in the woods with the Natives and continued fighting the British while trying to survive in the wilderness. Finally, after the war was over and the area given back to France they were able to return to their homes. My people know very little about surrendering, and I take great offence to any comments that are to the contrary.

Let it go. Both of you.

This thread is not the place to drag up old grievances.

How is that comment not a clear example of discrimination and baiting?

Yeah, but it's against the French, so it'll be ignored by the mods.

EDIT: I was obviously wrong, it's perfectly acceptable to insult or defame specific ethnic groups.

Have you seen the generalization made about Americans? Scots? Aussies? Irish? Kiwis?

    The above is *nothing*.

I guess it depends on who you are. I took exception to the term "joo" in the YJCC last night. Apparently it is some sort of "internet lingo" and is an abbreviation for the word "you".....phonetically "joo" is the same as "jew". I don't think that should be allowed. It seems inflammatory if used in the incorrect context.

"joo" is pronounced more like xiu than jew.

As in "I pwn joo!" ("I own giu")

Reasonable explanation....but people who are not familiar with that type of "talk" would never know that.

What does LOL mean? ROFL? BRB? GTG?

It's Darwinism at work: either you adapt or you fail in your socializing, wither and die.

But those abbreviations do not spell something that could be considered inflammatory to some.

Iwishiwasajedi: I don't think, generally, this is a problem at all. As far as banishments go, I believe if members of opposite races were treated differently, someone would pick up on how fishy it is.

That in and of itself, is against the TOS on the part of the suspected Moderator, and they could be demoted if they did anything of the sort. Is there a particular instance that's bothering you?

Yes discrimination exists on these boards. I do not just mean racial discrimination or gender discrimination. But you alos have religious, sexual orientaion, and host of other types of discrimination. It appears to me that if you are in the minority then no one cares. The mods seem to let alot of hateful remarks go. The average poster here is so ignorant of the real world it sickens me at times.
