It's annoying enough when managers and admins use it, I can't imagine how bad it'd be if everyone could.

The past few updates have been mostly the "routine" stuff, like so-and-so is on vacation, somebody got promoted, and problem users still exist. So there just haven't been any general discussions of board issues lately?

Is it a bannable offense to use info or links from a persons bio to harrass them on other boards.

More on that other board than here, I think. Not too sure. I don't know much about this whole fanfic-stuff.

Plagiarism is a big no, no, but it's not always easy to get someone to remove the item. That's the risk you take posting anything on the net, unfortunately. Most sites are good about asking the other party to remove the piece if you can show that you are the original creator and not the other person. Posting date, etc. If it's something that's been copied from here and the person attempts to pass it off on the TF.N boards, then I think it's a bannable offence. Contact one of the fan fic mods to be sure. We had a link to a plagiarism police site over in FFR but it doesn't seem to be working.

Some jerk would make a java link to a Goatse site, so that as soon as you click on a thread it redirects you.

It's just not feasible.

As far as fanfiction goes on these boards, posting someone else's story and claiming it to be your own is punishable by an extensive ban. If you suspect a story to be plagiarized, let a mod know.

If a story is taken from here and posted on other boards, it is up to the author to work the administrators of that board to take care of it.

 

The problem with your question, Beezel, if that is any of those things happen here, on the JC, then yes, it's a banable offense. But if it does not (which is what you seem to be asking about), there is nothing JC mods should do. It is up to the moderators of the other board to take action.

If info is being taken from the JC to be used at another board, the only solution is not putting up that info if you are concerned about it. The JC is public, and anyone, banned or not, can obtain information from the boards. Even an IP ban won't 100% stop people from getting into profiles (for example). All they need is another computer, or Dial up internet. And of course, you don't even need to be logged in to read posts.

The plagarism issue is not the mods responisibilty either, unless it takes place in our forums. But as Mariah Jade said, contact the person posting/hosting it.

This is a constant on MS updates, but why should problem users be discussed? I say bring'em all to the back yard and shoot'em!

Then again, that might be against the TOS.
