Just out of curiosity, how does someone go from a normal user to a VIP, Mod, Manager, or Admin?

VIPs are normally users who have given significant help to the TFn boards, or are associated with SW (ie novel writers), or game winners (check your favourite boards for on going games).

Mods are selected by invitation only, either by TheForce.Net staff or other administrators and managers of specific boards. After you've been a mod for three months you are promoted to Manager.

If an admin spot is opened up one of the long serving managers are invited to join the administrative team.

Generally speaking its not a good idea to ask to become a mod.

 

VIP status is also given to former RSAs and Mods.

Hard work, dedication, intelligence, and understanding of the rules are about the best way to "move up in the ranks". The more you actively contribute to the community in a positive manner, the more likely you are to be considered in the event that a moderator is needed. However, that is not a guarantee that you will be selected.

Of course, a sufficient quantity of unmarked bills in varying denominations could be helpful as well. PM me for details.
