[GEN] Sock Policy

I couldnt find one , so is there a sock policy in the jc , or guidelines , ( i.e sock limit etc.) or can a user register 1000,s of socks if he/she wants . I say this because there are 144,211 registered users and on average only 600-700 users on at one time , which makes it seem like people are just registering names for no particular purpose .

Official Sock Policy:
"As of now, any use of socks by a member that can be seen as abusive, excessive, or harmful to the community (for whatever reason: spamming, offensive, etc.) is formally against the rules.

The administration fully grants members the right to have a reasonable number of socks (any number over 3 will likely result in your being questioned about this), but we encourage everyone to post with their actual username most of the time, so that other members can get to know you."

 

which makes it seem like people are just registering names for no particular purpose .

Yes, because every member wants to be and is online every minute of every day. Either that, or some are socks, others are members that only log in occasionally, and others have registered, posted a few times, and moved on with their lives.

Sock policy is only three active socks per user. Other than that, register away.

And you know what, they even call them socks.

 

I did know now that a user was allow to use only three socks. Still what happens if this user creates three socks and only uses one or two all time besides her/his regular user name?

Is not my case, becuase if I use my sock I will missing many important PMs I am just curious.

 

3 socks? Christ, I shattered that limit over a year ago.

 

The hazy 3 Sock rule was a very old, we'll say "heavy suggestion" by Lord_Bane. (It wasn't a rule written in stone but the policy was that if someone looked for socks on a user and found more than 3, they would be lower down to 3) It's more of a weak suggestion now, I don't think any mod has ever questioned (well at least to the user) why a person has 20 socks (in ours heads we're goi "Why? Just.... why?" ).

I just like useing my normal name myself.I do have my OBIX2 sock though that I use for my trivia game bannings.I think it's good to have one sock if you play the official trivia games.

You can only have 3 ACTIVE socks. you can have as many NON-ACTIVE socks as you want. Thats why Im not banned right now.

How ACTIVE? I mean, I have a sock I use when I´m being banned in Trivia games, and then I have some I just use from time to time, but most of my socks have a little post count (and one has a high...)

 

same here I have socks but most of them are not even close to being remotely active accept for games and holidays and an rpg last year. other then that my main username is the most active

having a few secretive socks is not a bad idea, its used when I'm in a mood where I don't want to be contacted.

i guess, i wasn't aware of the sock policy but i can see the point.

i have about five socks that i can remember, two that i use if i am banned from trivia or bored.
