One of the biggest drawbacks of the PT is that it lacked the role of a serious commited villain. The OT had Darth Vader, he was the key character the go after throughout all 3 movies, until we finally get to the last 30 min of ROTJ and we find out that really Sidious was the TRUE villain the whole time. Yes there was the sub-villains like Jaba, Boba, Tarkin etc....but it was Vader that was the "Bad-Guy".

The PT really didn't have that same drive. There was Maul in EP1, but he was also killed in EP1. There was Dooku in AOTC/ROTS, but he was something that was introduced way late in EP2 and killed off real early in EP3, not enough to hold as a true villain. Then we have Grevious, again, he just just like Darth Maul introduced and killed in the same movie. Then we (like the OT) find out that really Palpatine/Sidious was the bad guy the whole time.

So my thing is this....what if Generial Grevious and Dooku was implimented in The Phantom Menace. I mean, it could have been shown that Grevious was the Droid General of the Droid Army in TPM. The same role that Vader had over the Imperials Officers/StormTroopers in the OT, Grevious could have been the exact same with the Droid Army in TPM. We would see him give out orders and crap like that. Whenever something goes wrong we could see him whip out his saber (Not showing that he can carry 4 sabers, save that suprise for ROTS) and kill a droid or two.

When the Invasion on Naboo happens, it could be Grevious that leads his droids into the battle and whatnot. Darth Maul would be established as the sub-villian as he is killed in the movie and at the end, Grevious is defeated but later escapes....just like Vader at the end of ANH.

From this point its established that Grevious may be the "Vader" of the PT. The figure that the good guys want to kill and defeat. Now lets talk about Dooku, I'll get back to Grevious later.

This is the obvious one as almost everyone suggested this. In TPM, it could have been shown that Dooku was on the LS at once. Hell, to add more effect to the story, he could even be introduced to Anakin by his former Padawan, Qui-Gon. At this point we see that he is LS, but it should be shown that he is conflicted, and is reaching his boiling point. There could have been atleast one scene where he is arguing with the Jedi Counsil about certain matters which would establish why he left the order and became a Sith. Then at the end of the movie (Before the Naboo Celebration), we could have a "Dooku joins the DS" scene. Very similar to what we see at the end of ROTS when suited Vader walks up to Sidious on the Star Destroyer, to establish that Vader is now fully apart of the Empire and so on. Same thing applies here. Right before the celebration scene, we can see Grevious/Sidous somewhere (Possibly on Naboo somewhere hidden) talking to each other on a balcony looking over the land (Just like we see Tarkin/Sidious talking to each other at the end of ROTS) and then we see Dooku in his darker robes walk up and stand next to Sidious and all 3 of them lookout over the balcony. THEN it would switch to the Celebration scene. This way it shows that Grevious/Sidious/Dooku is the baddies of the OT. It would also show that Dooku has joined the DS. As for his turn, it isn't actually shown, it is just implied that he did and we assume that.

Now we get to Attack of the Clones and the storyline just like TPM remains the same. Dooku has the SAME exact EP2 role and everything. Nothing is changed there so far as Dooku goes. The only addition again would be....Grevious. Again, we still have Jango as our sub-villian just like Maul. Grevious would somehow be squeezed in the movie. He doesn't have to have a huge role, but it has to still be established that he remains a key figure to be killed by the good guys. Maybe he could lead the droids to battle against the clones on Geonosis. The same control room on Geonosis that we see Dooku in (When he gets the Death Star plans), we could also see Grevious there giving out orders and whatnot. The end of the movie will remain the EXACT sa

I think the PT is great how it is.

Just because the way the villains are done is different from the OT doesn't mean it's bad. It means it's different.

Sidious was set up as the main villain from the beginning. It is he who orders the TF around, he who is Maul's master, he who is Dooku's master, he who is the phantom menace, and he who gets his revenge.

But Sidious is more mysterious, in the shadows. He's not a grunt like Vader out in the field. He has others do that work for him. That's different from the OT, but it's still awesome.
