A thread devoted solely to vague suggestions of marathons, meet-ups, shindigs, shenanigans, and other alike happenings.

What I've managed to dredge up from the murk that is the past 39 pages of the War Room amounts to the about to be detailed list.

-- Record of Lodoss War viewing
    -- Wii + Projector night
-- Globe theatre double features (see [link=http://boards.theforce.net/queensland/b10036/27486809/p1/?8]here[/link])
    -- Going to the Drive-in
    -- Doctor Who marathons galore
    -- Black Books marathon
    -- Monty Python marathon
-- QldFF goes to Vicky Point Cineplex
    -- More Robotech
    -- Arrested Development marathon
-- Another Sam & Max projector night
-- Grim Fandango (and other classic LucasArts RPGs) projector night
-- Horror Game projector night (Fear, etc)
    -- Eurovision 2008
-- General British comedy marathon (including but not exclusive to Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Black Books, Coupling, Are You Being Served...)
-- Captain Simian and the Space Monkies
-- A Douglas Adams night (could be coupled with Towel Day 08)
    -- BarWars
-- Bruce Willis marathon (Fifth Element, Hudson Hawk etc)
    -- More Futurama
-- Lois & Clark: the new adventures of Superman marathon
    -- Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum marathon
-- Family Guy Star Wars viewing
    -- Beowulf (Dave_Smogcrawler suggests Dec 13)

I've probably missed a bunch of happenings that have graced other pages, so feel free to update the list with those and any other fun and fanciable sojourns that might happen to cross your minds.

Would anybody want to do something for Magnus, LC, and my graduation tomorrow night? Tomorrow night is pretty much the only time I can do it for a few weeks.

I'm thinking dinner at the Pancake Manor, and/or a pub afterwards. Any takers?

A few good films there. The one that immediately caught my eye is on Wednesday 13 December; Once.

Just had to be the day before my admission didn't it :p

Stardust under the stars on 23 December has a certain appeal too.

    Be seeing you,

Oh stardust was on last night...bugger. Forgot about that.

I wish to see movies in the next few weeks. Golden Compass is taken care of on Boxing Day.

Also wish to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Mr Magoriums, Enchanted (yes I'm a sucker for Disney films even though this one will be quite sickly), No country for Old Men (supposed to superb although it'll have to be the right mood for that one), and maybe Atonement.

Evenings/days I don't have the munchkin I will be trying to see a film. Ah who am I kidding, if I see a couple a week, that'd be great. I miss going to the movies. Wish to see lots next year!

We're movie buffs..lets pay the cinema instead of drinking the money away! (well, of course, lets drink some of it away)

Oh and Chermside are showing movies tomorrow night (Christmas night) if anyone feels the need.

[link=https://www.qtix.com.au/show/One_Man_Starwars_08.aspx]The One Man Star Wars Trilogy[/link] is coming to Brisbane in April from the 4th to the 12th. By all accounts brilliant, though the tickets are a bit pricey for a one hour show; ranging from $43 - $52.

Still, I'm up for it. Any further takers?

Sounds like fun - I imagine I'll be broke (both financially and metaphorically) from Supanova, but it could be a fun night out. Mark me as a "tentatively interested."

I don't know if this will appeal to anyone but hey, Opera at the movies. I do want to go and see Tristan and Isolde at the very least.

Here's the dates for what's on:

    Aida - May 17th & 18th
    Maria Stuarda - June 7th & 8th
    La Rondine - June 28th & 29th
    La Forza del Destino - July 19th & 20th
    II Trittico - August 9th & 10th
    Tristan and Isolde - August 30th & 31st

I wouldn't mind a battlestar season 4 revisit either Luke, and enjoyed the sam and max projector evening we had, even being a Sam and Max virgin before hand.

    Hmmmm..so who's got a projector....... ?

Damn it, someone with their own place get a projector so we're not impinging on Morgs place. Hang on, we have our own place, who's putting in for a projector and screen?

I believe I can wrangle a night of projectoring from the kids - just got to wait til the Olympics is over. [face_thinking]

Probably should have one or two final projector nights before they kick me out anyways :p

A bunch of us today discussed the idea of getting together every two to three weeks at someone's place to just watch stuff, which we used to do quite a bit but has fallen to the wayside due to that whole life thing. There's a bunch of movie marathons we want to get through, plus a bunch of our flagship shows are starting again soon, so we could sit down and watch the season premieres of those.

Given work restraints and other commitments, perhaps Sundays after lunch could work? If people are in agreement on this idea, we can nut out firmer details and have our first session, probably after the next Serious Business Live?

Actually, why schedule it for the weekend following that? The Heroes and Terminator episode will be out, so we could sit down and watch those.

    Post your thoughts.

    Be seeing you,

    Magnus Darcrider

As I indicated yesterday, I'm all up for this. Sunday arvo sounds like the best idea to me. Lazy Sundays watching stuff with friends are excellent fun. If the majority prefers a weeknight, though, I'm sure I could manage it.
