As you can see, the picture doesn't scale very well in its present incarnation.

Don't think it will work - like you say, too much detail for the icon. 50x50 isn't much to play with really.

 

what about using the DM icon shown here with BIFF on it!

That's maybe more likely, but I think that will have to wait until.

1. We have a name, (probably BIFF).

2. We have a shortlist of icons.

We have a shortlist of icons here, that people are satisfied with - George, Bagpuss, Morph, DM etc..

I think our name is going to be BIFF, the vast majority prefer it.

I suggest we have a vote on the icons at the end of next week.

Maybe we could vote even earlier? A week is a long time on the INTERNET.

Reason why I am saying next week, is that a few people I know who'd vote are on holiday. Ginger_Jedi for one.

It is important that they are represented. That said, perhaps we can instigate the vote earlier and make it last for 7 days. That way, most people if they are seriously interested about having a say, can get a vote in.

 

I have to admit I was sort of thinking about myself as I am on a course for a week after that.

And I wanted to see all this through to "the bitter end".

If D_A can post in the name poll that the voting will close on Sunday, and then close it. Then we can start the icon poll on Monday - running until the following Monday. This gives work-time, evening, and weekend posters a fair say.

Then we can look at the banners.

Not really, I don't know much except they have a couple of people in mind. I am too low on the food chain for any more than that

Let's remember to let everyone have an opportunity to vote. People will be on holiday and we should encourage others from the regional UK boards to come in and have a say too!

I think BIFF has almost certainly won it anyways...

Then, if UKS can post a poll on Monday - with the 6 or 7 choices for icon pasted in there, we are well on our way to selecting one. It seems to be a 2-way fight between DM and George though. Bagpuss is trailing... and Morph... well...

Edit// Polls - It says in Options that you can 'manage your polls' - can you not close them from there?

 

OK, I've posted in the poll reminding people of the change of date. I have also posted reminders to vote in Scotland, Wales, Northern England, Southern England and Northern Ireland.

I was also going to post a reminder in Ireland but have heard that the place gets hijacked by loads of non British Isle people? Is it a good idea to encourage non FFUK/BIFF/FFBI to vote?????

Possibly. But I think not. A lot of people do not come into the General Discussion boards so they might not be aware of this. And it is a 'serious' issue - not one of 'I'm cool - lets play silly beggars'...

 

It normally doesn't matter whether it is serious or not.

Though the northern boards tends to not get anyone there anyway. Southern boards have a few lurkers. The Scottish boards the ones who don't post here normally have no interest in this place at all.
