ST George Lucas' Discarded Treatment?

If there is a thread about / discussing this already, I apologize. but since we are rapidly approaching only 2 months left til TFA, I was wondering if anyone heard anything about the leaked EP VII treatment that George had in mind that Disney and JJ dumped?

I swear I remember hearing that his treatment had little to no involvement from the OT Big 3, and rather focused almost exclusively on a new generation.

Anyone else hear anything about which way this might've gone?

 

I haven't heard anything of the that. My understanding is that Lucas was simply a consultant for TFA. End of story.

Lucas's treatment was adapted by Michael Arndt & then it was part thrown out or completely thrown out ( not sure ) then JJ & Kasdan rewrote or part rewrote it....I heard a rumour that Lucas's treatment focused on the children of the big 3 & I mean children or teenagers not adults.....

 

I was always under the impression that when he sold it to Disney, he gave them a basic synopsis / rough outline for EP VII - IX, which would focus more on younger characters. But that Disney and Abrams ditched the treatments and went their own way:

Maybe that's true. Who knows? I'm glad some new people got their hands on Star Wars. Nothing wrong with new ideas. I think this movie is going to be off the hook.

Oh, I agree! It's time to pass it on to the next generation of filmmakers, and see what magic they can weave. Still, I would be curious to read or see the George Lucas "official" continuation of the Saga. perhaps an elseworlds-style graphic novel down the line, similar to SW Infinities?

Like Chris Hayes said up there, I distinctly remember as they were gearing up for production, reports coming out that JJ and Disney were bringing in Kasdan to rewrite the script, as JJ was not happy with what was there. If I remember correctly, didn't this push back filming a bit too, while they did the rewrites?

 

A leaked GL treatment would be an amazing read, it's like a could've been that's more of a should've been. If that makes any sense lol

 

Well, I've seen the leaked treatment and there's really not a huge difference to what we have now.

Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo were all originally 8 years old like Anakin in TPM and Boba in AOTC. It was a little more thrilling than what we currently have.
