The Weeping Angels were okay. They were great in Blink, and I loved putting them in a dark atmosphere in Flesh and Stone and Time of Angels. After that though the concept sort of wore thin.

Personally I think The Silence take the concept of not looking away from your enemy and raise it to a whole new level, for a couple of reasons. First one, they haven't been overused, so there is no conflicting continuity on how they work as a villain like there is with the angels. Secondly, there is something inherently more psychological about The Silence. Anyone could have seen them, it's just they wouldn't remember it. Finally,

They're dapper as ****. Seriously, if I were to be murdered by a bloodthirsty alien then I want the bloodthirsty alien to dress up for the occasion. :p

As a Doctor Who noob (who is familiar with the phrase but not it's true import or impact), I'll just go with the assumption that this phrase equates with Douglas Adams's "Don't Panic." ;)

If the response to this is "Pretty much entirely not at all." Then I'm well on my way. :p

Speaking of Douglas Adams... he was the script overlord for several amazing stories during Tom Baker's tenure. And, they are hilarious while also intelligent.

Not to mention some of his ideas would bounce between Doctor Who and Hitchhikers, which is a fascinating look into how Douglas Adams' creative process worked. The Space Pirates was an idea that he couldn't quite squeeze into Hitchhikers, and the deadly cricket playing robots from Hitchhikers were a re-used element from the script he wrote for a cancelled Doctor Who movie.

While City of Death is considered the crown jewel of his run as script editor, one of my top 5 favorite all time Doctor Who stories is Creature From the Pit. It has an unbelievable wit to it.

    Here's the whole quote
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to affect, but actually, from a non-linier, non subjective point of view it is more like a big ball of wibbily wobbly timey wimey...stuff
Time travel is completely insane. Just roll with it. Don't try to understand it. I mean try to if you want but just smile and nod when something comes up.
A lot of what pops up makes sense but if you get confused a couple times a season don't worry about it.

Finally caught up with this thread. Not interested in taking part in the Doctor Who discussion, but I do want to reply to a few posts here before ending this with a New Year's wish for more Star Wars-related news.

Firstly, a rather belated congratulations to Darth Chiznuk! It is always a most happy occasion when you can see the joy of a life beginning. May your little newborn girl bring you the utmost happiness!

The Jedi Path is a great sourcebook, and a nice complement to Book of Sith, which I assume you already have based on your avatar...and your signature. ;)

I love Season 5, as up and down as that season often was. It consists entirely of four-episode arcs, so you're either stuck with four episodes of mediocrity or four episodes of awesomeness. Thankfully, at least to me, I felt that the awesome generally outweighed the mediocrity. Go finish your viewing!

    Congratulations to you as well!

I'm going to make my comments now on what I hope will truly be the "year of Star Wars" in 2014, since I rarely ever frequent GIL. 2013 gave us plenty of things to talk about, beginning with the Abrams as director announcement and the myriad of other announcements including the return of John Williams and Lawrence Kasdan into the fold, and an actual release date for Episode VII. While actual concrete news has been generally scarce, I am confident we will see plenty of Ep7 news in the upcoming year, and I look forward to continuing discussion of the upcoming films with all of you! So I wish you all a happy New Year!

I am watching it. Michael Carter-Williams and his D-League support vs the LA injured reserved list. I hope Jabari Parker and Wiggins are watching to get a feel for what will be required of them.

A Chorus of Disapproval I watched it too... 'twas a spirited affair, Swaggy P continuing his recent streak of excellent shooting (20+ points in 6 out of his last 8 games I believe), and the game was close, but too many outside shots & bad passing doomed the Lakers. Their current 5 game losing streak is their longest of the season. [face_plain]

I also heard that the Philly NFL team won their division last night.
    :p

JainaSoloYJK That didn't make me cry, but it's definitely sad to hear about. Those sets in Tunisia are among the greatest parts of Star Wars lore.

anakinfansince1983 Because my brother is a Saints fan, I'm inclined to root for them in the playoffs. Sorry. :p
