While the 76ers died a horrible death tonight, this particular league stat is phenomenal:
Hmm, pizza for dinner you say? You may be on to something.
In other news, I echo what many others are saying: it is COLD.
It was in the 50s up here earlier. It was kinda funny going out in shorts and a t-shirt with all the snow still everywhere. But the temp's steadily coming down now.
Yeah, I was out late last night in shorts having a snowball fight with some of the local delinquents and today the snow all melted by 8am. Now, it is freezing rain with the temp dropping 3-5 degrees per hour and will be subzero throughout the early am hours. Good weather for pneumonia.
MyKe, how close are your Philly shenanigans to those of the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crew?
The bar scene has some characters and there are definitely local shenanigans, but the general tone of the show is just sorta "off". As for me personally? You remember the way I used to be on here... well, that was me sitting calmly and just typing. I used to be pretty rowdy and a tad more showy. Not just in terms of looking for trouble but I and a few others were into being publicly ridiculous. 1 example out of countless: I was walking down Broad street with my then girlfriend after it had rained and an uppity older couple were stepped out of a shop and began walking directly in front of us. He happened to have an umbrella over his shoulder, with the pointer sticking out about 2 feet. So, because I was wired this way, I immediately slapped the umbrella, began screaming, grabbed my eye socket and fell into the busy street, freaking out about how he had stabbed my eye out. Was this a unique situation for me? No. It was simply after dinner. People confronting the police loudly & obnoxiously, and about even inconsequential things, is a local passtime.
I just laughed again at the snowball fight with local delinquents, especially as I'm sure Myke won.
@Immortiss , my friend in Royal Oak just posted a meme on Facebook that says "Detroit shovels harder."
It's ten degrees outside and the first day of winter-season swim team practice for my sons is tonight. Oh the irony...but at least it's ten above zero.
Epic win. RIP Run Run Shaw.
So I went down to my downstairs playroom and I found what appears to be the spawn of the devil
what....what is that and why does it exist!?!?!
Don't leave us hanging! Did they believe you'd really poked your eye on his umbrella?
@Darth Claire : You should probably get out of the house.
Oh, sorry for the cliffhanger. The wife was aghast and was looking about the busy sidewalk for someone to help because her concern did not extend beyond not messing up her shoes or touching a vagrant such as myself. The husband was far more concerned about the scene I was causing as I pointed at him and reviled his ignorance loudly. I was going for an Oscar.
Man, you were a nightmare. I'm glad I ran ran into you or something.
I had massive, massive societal and authority issues. The reason I first registered here in '00 was as a recommended "social experiment" to interact with people without having to interact. I had friends and a rather active lifestyle back then, but it was of a vastly different makeup than where I am at, now. Being an immigrant kid who spent time in 2 countries and being imbibed with the entire old punk culture sorta made me apathetic. Reading Famous Monsters and Fangoria like porn as a kid and drawing and messing around with gore probably did not help.
"You've grown up."
It took being chopped up and burnt, but yeah...
I found out today that it's very likely that there won't be an official 10-year reunion (which would be in June) for my high school graduating class. This is bumming me out.
Your high school classmates don't change that much in ten years anyway. I had more fun at my 20th.
My 25th is coming up this year, if we have one.
Sure, but there's a few folks I haven't seen since '04 that I would have loved to see... had they gone, obviously.
Well, make sure to wave cheerfully to them when they drive past your house hanging off the back of the garbage truck.
I never had much love for my high school friends. We had decent fun in school, but I had loads of friends outside that institution who were way more fun. I didn't even go to the prom. I made a deal with my parents and said that I don't really care about going to that event and that I'd have way more fun if they just gave me that money in cash. They did and since it was a decent sum for our standards here, a friend and me lived like kings for like a week.
My favorite part was when the people from high school started pestering me. "Aaaww, maaan, why didn't you go to the prom, it was an awesome night..." To which I replied: "Yeah? I've had an awesome week for that same amount."
To this day I think that's one of the better decisions I've made.
I went to both of my proms. I have no idea why. I didn't need to buy a $200 dress to drink Bacardi and Sprite in a hotel room, and that was the most fun part of the evening.
I went to my (senior) prom, had a great time. It was also the last time to date that I danced.
I've never danced as in... really danced. Not my thing.
Mosh pits, on the other hand...
Well im currently at the mayoclinic and I thankfully got good news. What I have is thankfully not chronic and it should be cured with 3 months of steroids and some transplant thingy. Bad news is that we dont know when we can do that transplant thingy. So now im stuck here in minnesota waiting for a donar. Even worse is that im missing the first week of my second semester of college and my 19th birthday is coming up and I dont wanna spend it here.
