    The movie is priceless.

I'm surprised you've survived this long without having seen it. Most people would have died by now.

They should only release Big Trouble In Little China in Gold-Ray. Nothing else is worthy of that movies encoding. :)

Just remember that it's very silly and doesn't worry about things like plot holes, logic or making sense. It's above such trivial notions.

I've seen a handful of John Carpenter films... Big Trouble in Little China isn't one of them.

I have absolutely no idea what I've just unleashed upon this world. All I'm sure about is the world is not ready for it. :p

John Carpenter was great back in the day. Indeed, The Thing is one of my favorite horror/thriller films. BTILC is definitely as amazing as CT says it is. I liked Escape from NY but never saw the sequel.

I like the idea of taking inspiration from a classic film such as BTILC. It worked with ANH, and can and should work again.

EDIT: And lol, sometimes GIL provides the best amusement. :p

I'd agree with that. A lot of people seem to forget that Star Wars was a Frankenstein's monster built from all different kinds of source material. And there's nothing wrong with doing that either.

So, today I tried to watch the OOT for the first time ever, by way of the 2006 Bonus Discs. I made it 11 minutes before I had to shut it off and put in the SEs. It just isn't visually appealing. At all. The footage is grainy and looks like crap, and everything is just wrong, compared to the SE cuts I'm used to. While I can see why people like that cut, it's really not for me.

So, yeah. My execution date is August 17th. I've opted for a firing squad, rather than a forced viewing of the Holiday Special.

I've got the VHS set (pan & scan) of the '95 OOT release, and I have/keep it for sentimental value. But like you, despite its faults, I much prefer the Special Editions, in particular the 2000 VHS release (first time I'd ever seen the OT in Widescreen) & the '04 DVD release.

I grew up with the SE so I find it much more satisfying than the OOT as well. I own the 2006 DVD set and watch it whenever I get the hankering to see Han shoot first but otherwise I stick to the SE.

You guys are talkin' my lingo again. John Carpenter is my favorite filmmaker. I love (almost) everything he's ever done. The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China are my favorites, but there are so many more that are great. I can't recommend his films highly enough. :)
