I've never been this terrified and excited at the same time before. I don't want it to suck, I think I may be too much of a purist... on the other hand, I don't care - I need to see it made.

I recently read something about this in EW and King said that he'd love it if Peter Jackson wanted to adapt the series with, say, an unlimited budget and something with the same scope as LotR, but that was all he said on the matter. He didnt intimate in the slightest that a potential deal was in the works.

Anyway, this is certainly...interesting news if true. Like many of you Id approach an adaptation of this magnitude with some trepidation, but at the same time, there are worse creative minds than Abrams, you know ? At least if he does it you know it'd be in the hands of a real King fan. That's got to count for something.

    Lots of Tower news.

    Here's some highlights:

-Right now there are no plans to bring on any other artist for the Dark Tower comics.

-The comics will follow Roland through Mejis, but it definitely WILL go past Book 4 and all the way up to Jericho Hill, which King demanded a giant splash page from Lee.

    - King views the Dark Tower series as a first draft and plans to rewrite the entire series, but he promises he won't make them the Special Editions. The originals will always be out there.

    - When asked if he'd turn another one of his books into a comic series with Marvel, King said he and Quesada were just beginning to talk about doing a version of The Stand as a Comic series.

    - Damon Lindelof and JJ Abrams did express interest, especially Damon, and wanted to develop the project. King said he was resistant to everybody in the past, but trusted Abrams and Lindelof. When Abrams and Lindelof approached King about trying to make the project work, King responded, "I'll tell you what... you can option the books and see what you can do with it." Nothing is set up, but they have the option.

Hopefully he'll fix the whole left/right messup in The Drawing of the Three. That always annoyed the piss out of me.

I'm getting close to the end of the series and I'm really loving book seven. Sucks about Eddie since he was my favorite character. But I think the series has lived up to its hype(we'll see about the last 250 pages).

Issue #2 just came out today. Great comic, amazing art. Cool look at the Crimson King. And the text at the end gave great insight into the history of Mid-World, Arthur Eld, Maerlyn, and Black 13. Great stuff!

the art is just amazing. i loved the open letter from king and also the sampled pencils. generally i like the tone of voice they used for the graphic novel, it's just a very beautiful thing.

Gotta say, the cover for #6 is my favorite, but they're all great. Can't wait for the next chapter in the series, too.

great stuff. i'm ripping through the 5th volume at the moment and enjoying it a lot. just wish he wouldn't keep the wolves and what they are such a secret. it's a bit heavy-handed storytelling, i think.

I asked my local comic book shop owner about how soon the TPB would be out, and he suggested maybe a month or two after issue #7 is out. I was amazed that they could turn it out so quickly (Dark Horse takes at least six months when releasing Star Wars TPBs), but he said Marvel makes enough sales in the monthlies to justify releasing TPBs pretty quickly.

I for one can't wait for this.
