He was a small man from an era of giants.

Do you mean the "Unplugged" version or something else?

Right - just one week to go, and I'm gonna be seeing Eric for the 2nd time in my life (and for the first time in 17 years)!

    :D

    His set list at the last 2 shows is outstanding. So looks like I'm in for a Derek & the Dominos extravaganza. Which suits me fine, as it's my favourite album of all time;

Check the setlist. Bold titles are Derek & the Dominos tracks...

    01. Tell The Truth
    02. Key To The Highway
    03. Got to Get Better in A Little While
    04. Little Wing
    05. Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?

    Acoustic Set
    06. Driftin' Blues (EC Solo)
    07. Outside Woman Blues
    08. Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out
    09. Running On Faith

    10. Motherless Children
    11. Little Queen of Spades
    12. Anyday
    13. Wonderful Tonight
    14. Layla

    Encore
    15. Cocaine
    16. Crossroads

Two Cream songs, and a spattering of solo favourites to keep the regular punters happy. All mighty fine.

Evan, did you manage to get tickets for Anaheim?

Edit: To go with the retro set list (not a single track from his latest album "Back Home"), check out the T-Shirt design!

Yup. :D I hope the setlist doesn't change much between now and then, but it likely will.

Derek Trucks is leaving to rejoin the Allmann Brothers at some point mid-tour for their Becon residency. No doubt it's his slide playing, and Allmann Bros pedigree that has been the catalyst for this Dominos revival. (He was actually named after the Dominos' "Derek").

So if he's out of the band by the time he gets to you, yeah, I'd expect quite a different setlist.

It'd be kinda weird playing in the same band as your namesake. :p Damn, him leaving is gonna kill most of the Dominos songs, unless Clapton decides that he and Doyle are enough (which they are).

Here's the details on Trucks' hiatus

17 March 2007 (Sat) The Pond, Anaheim, CA

You might just be lucky - though he may be absent for rehersals?

I am coining a new word to describe Eric Clapton.

Soverated. Its a portmanteau of "So" and "Overrated."

    Fixed.

No, in reality, I have no idea who this is. But I'm disinclined to like him.

Wait... I'm ok with thinking he's "soverated" (rolls of the tongue, doesn't it?) but not knowing who he is? It's unfathomable.

. . .Is he, like, one of the Beetles?

    Bob Dylan's cousin?

Both actually. He is sometimes referred to as "the 5th Beatle", and contributed to George Harrison's White Album masterpiece While My Guitar Gently Weeps. And Clapton's had a long a fruitful relationship with Dylan over the years. Musical cousins indeed.

    Lucky guess.[face_dancing]

But then, it seems like most punk rock artists I don't know about end up having something to with either Aerosmith, the Beetles, or Bob Dylan.

So it wasn't like it was that huge of leap, all things considered.

To me, Hendrix is, was, and always will be the music Colossus of that era.

    Sure that era, but Jimi's 70s, 80, 90s and 2000's output doesn't stack up against Eric's.

Yeah, Eric sure was a major player in the punk scene.

Hendrix became famous because of Clapton. His manager was able to convince him to come to England because he promised to introduce Jimi to Eric. :p
