Hello all!! I am part of the Rocky Mountain Fan Force and I am going to C3. I was wondering what are some good downtown resturantes that are in walking distance from the RCA Dome. I am staying at the Embassy Suites downtown. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Here's sort of a resturant info dump...all are in the general downtown area...some I would consider easily in walking distance...others you'd want to take a cab Acapulco Joes 365 N Illinois Street Aesop's Tables 600 Massachusetts Avenue Agio 635 Massachusetts Avenue Alcatraz Brewing Company Illinois & Maryland - Circle Centre Mall Amici's 601 E. you missed Hard Times Cafe, an excellent chili house. about a minute from the convention center, next to Houlihan's before you get to Illinois Street.
It's an old list...haven't had time to update it....and even when it was a new list, apparently some of the mall food places closed and the mall website hadn't been updated....but nonetheless, there's a boatload of places to eat within spitting distance.
also, there is a new barbecue place-- Dick's Bodacious bar-b-que, on the corner of Pennsylvania and Market street. I'll give them four stars from my experience in Broad Ripple. Good lean meats, cooked to perfection. Don't forget, kids, there is a STARBUCK'S every 50 feet downtown and in all the hotels, so you don't need to go without your lifesupport.
Additionally, for you fans of big chain restaurants that *don't* suck, there is a Smokey Bones across the street from Old Spaghetti Factory, at Georgia & Meridian. Where else will you get fresh donuts after stuffing yourself with smokey-goodness? If you like Mexican that isn't like Chi-Chi's (besides closed, I mean!) I recommend El Sol de Tala at Union Station, on Meridian Street. They don't fool around on authenticity.
Hard Rock Cafe 49 South Meridian Need to add another Pilsner glass to my collection! Any suggestions in the way of convienent shopping: chips, pop, and other simple stuff for the rooms? (when we actually are IN the room)
There is a CVS drugstore at the corner of Ohio and Illinois, as well as a Speedway gas/food market on Washington, at the far end of the Zoo.
"Hard Rock Cafe 49 South Meridian Need to add another Pilsner glass to my collection!" A co-worker of mine collects them as well and is about had a fit when I told her there was a Hard Rock a couple of blocks from the convention.
All you need is Steak n Shake. 24 hour of pure grease goodness. I prefer White Castle for my 24 hour grease need! Hehehe
>>I'd have to be seriously stoned or drunk before eating there again. LOL! I think that has been their corporate motto since 1921!
