Congrats to all the new jobbies!!!

CB, I have a suggestion (working also in healthcare with multi-ethnic patients) -- make friends with a few of the bilingual residents (I'm sure you'll have no problem), and simply strive to learn one new word or phase every day. Start with useful things (i.e. "Do you need help?") and then move on to other stuff. If you show even a spark of interest, you'll find your job will be even more enjoyable. As for the deuce...well, you're right, comes with the job...

    Thank you everyone!

Thank you SPJ, I have been working on that since I got here I am lucky my assistant speaks Korean and a few of my residents are bilingual English/Chinese. One of them made me a page with common Chinese phrases and spelled them phonetically for me :) I can say "hello, how are you and how can I help you" in chinese.. I can also say, "please pay attention to your stove and please be sure to lock your bathroom" perhaps if I'd read up on that one sooner the duece incident might not have happened ;-)

Hey hey, CONGRATS, CB! Recently having moved my elderly aunt and uncle to CA, I've become re-acquainted with senior care. Those under your care are SO lucky to have you there for them!

The guy I kind of supervise is gone today so I can work in peace. Oh, he doesn't disturb me but I feel bad wearing headphones when he's around because then it appears that I am unapproachable and that's bad. Any way, I can listen to my iPod with my new speakers. They are very cool and kind of space-agey.

Maybe if you tell that to your semi-supervisee he won't think you're being stand-offish, just cool.

Well, I just dropped my economics class as it was getting too strenuous with other things going on. But now I'm taking a class on how to tutor! It's not a very big class, but it's something, and I'll gain valuable skills from it...

Oh, and I applied to CSUN today. I don't know how long the application process is after that, but I'm hoping I'll get a reply soon.

Today I have a weekly meeting to discuss design issues related to JR's project (he's been very busy with this project). Hopefully I can go have a really good lunch afterwards. That's a good thing.

Yesterday I went to an all day training session on MicroStation V8 XM, a drafting program. It wasn't really a class on how to draft as much as it was about the changes to the program. It was fascinating but way too much information.

We need a secretary / production coordinator to deal with all of the paperwork like insurance, business papers, etc., haha, too bad we don't have the money to hire anyone to do that right now. But in the future ;)

Congratulations, SH! I live near there and SJ often works near there at Fox. I think Arminca and/or JediMia also work nearby.
