Haven't been many great scores so far this year, although the blockbuster season seems promising with Elfman, Giacchino, etc.

But there have been some nice surprises:

Debbie Wiseman was in top form for Lesbian Vampire Killers, which I'd never heard of and don't intend to see, but has a robust score from one of my favorite modern composers.

And best action score of the year so far is Stephen Endelman's, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which despite by all accounts being a terrible movie has a fine melodic score from a composer not known for this genre but who clearly has the chops.

    Both recommended.

What other scores have you enjoyed so far in 2009?

I actually haven't heard a single new score from this year. Nothing has interested me.

Marco Beltrami's Knowing is his best score in quite some time. Also worth checking out.

Same here. In fact, my enthusiasm for new film music in general has gone way down lately.

Yeah, I would agree. They only thing I really find myself looking forward to lately are scores by a very select few composers - Giacchino, Marianelli, Hisaishi, and Desplat. Other than that, I've really been expanding my collection with great scores from the past.

    Yes!

Of up and coming composers, Jonny Greenwood's music completely blows me away, but he's only done two film scores.
