Meh. Wikipedia has very little info on the EU, although it does have a lengthy article on the Vong.

Try WOTC's Ultimate Alien Anthology, Coruscant & the Core Worlds, Geonosis & the Outer Rim Worlds, The Darkside Sourcebook & the Power of the Jedi Sourcebook, though the latter two are 3+ years out of date.

Well, there's plenty of choices, but most are outdated:

The Essential Guides are quite good, though they are all out of date and have black & white pics. Ususally they are only found in used bookstores. (Characters, Vehicles & Vessels, Weapons & Technology, Droids, Planets & Moons, Alien Species, Chronology)

The New Essential Guides are also good (with full color pics), but some don't like the latter ones. Most agree that Characters is the best of the those currently released. (Characters, Vehicles & Vessels, Weapons & Technology, Chronology [future release])

West End Games had a line of RPG sourcebooks that were great; unfortunately, they are all out of print, somewhat hard to find, and have black & white images. (Galaxy Guides, Planets of the Galaxy, various sourcebooks, it all depends on what you want.)

Wizards of the Coast most likely has a lot of what you want, though even their stuff is out of date by a year or more. Though they are RPG suppliments, they still have tons of good info. Full color pictures, and prices to match. (Dark Side Sourcebook, Power of the Jedi Sourcebook, Coruscant & the Core Worlds, Geonosis & the Outer Rim Worlds, Alien Anthology, Ultimate Alien Anthology)

Fansites like the Unofficial Encyclopedia are usually good and current, though it helps to know what you're searching for.

    :)
