In Game: ...and that you do. Twelve hours later, with new knowledge under your hat. you are given another special sleep session of seven hours your time to two minutes of their time. Upon waking you shower off. Then
you are escorted by Nimrod to another area of the base, that requires a new clearance level being conferred onto you. With your new Top Secret Clearance, you are ushered in to a hidden facility under an ancient pyrimid like structure. There you go through your last sessions of preparation. This includes specialized equipment for the job ahead: An installed language chip for German along with a set of pens for operating a computer interface remotely. Also the clothing worn by one of the captured crew members from the downed saucer along with enhanced equipment with alternate functions for your mission. This will be carried in a brief case.

Next you are escorted past two large doors that are so well balanced that you could open them with a push from your index finger. The hall beyond leads to an area that looks strangely alien in its architecture. This is the ace up Chryse Planitia's sleeve. GATE!

In Game: "That would be my area of expertise," says a voice you haven't heard before.

An older man aproaches the both of you. He runs his hand over his thinning hair and smiles at you.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wendal Warshemp and I've been studying this operational relic for the past fifteen years straight. It is one of the few left behind by those who were on Mars before we showed up. I have reason to believe that they used it as a means of escape to another location...where I don't know. When we first came upon it seventeen years ago. The Xenoarcheologists were doing cartwheels. Then came the day that one of them vanished without a trace for three days. When she returned, everyone thought she was certifiably lunars. She claimed to have traveled to another galaxy and there met another race of beings-bipedal and much like ourselves-they explained that we would do better not to use the gate for travel outside of our solar system until we were able to understand its function from top to bottom. We've been doing this ever since. For instance we've been able to learn that this device taps into the extra dimensions for travel from one place to another. This and the Strong Nuclear Force in order to tunnel through to the prospective new location for exploration. The extradimensional manipulation in conjungtion with SNF allows seamless transference without harm to the traveller. As long as the coordinates are in alignment with the destination. This is acheived with a targeting device we've yet to be able to back engineer. Once it is locked onto a location it holds onto the relative location on the respective planetary object and does not waver."

In Game: Wendal laughs then bids you to follow him. He heads towards spherical chamber located in the center of the the engineered cavern. Lined up against a wall on the far side of the cavern, you find many objects of varying shapes and sizes.

"Lunars huh? These are items that were retrieved by the Gate, when it was targeting different planets and moons in our solar system."

One of the smaller objects in the array appears to be made of pure gold.

"The one you see with the golden appearance is solid gold. It was transported from a location within Mercury that we were able to detect as containing nothing but pure gold. We can do the same thing with an object being retrieved or sent to Hydrates Choas. There is a limit to the total mass involved over a period of time. As the mass increases the recharge time is increased proportionally. We have a full charge as of this time. We can transfer you to the target location while no one's looking. So Leutenant, are you up to the challenge?"

In Game: "Not this very moment, no. My question is rhetoricle at this time. We still have to search out the exact location that would be best for-not only your insertion-but that of the other team's insertion."

In Game: "We'll work together on finding a good drop off point for you. Then we'll wait long enough for you to be inserted into that location when all eyes are looking else where."

Warshemp begins heading towards a workstation with a small team of personnel working on it. Nimrod seems to be talking to someone from the team but you can't tell as this person is on the side opposite of Nimrod from you.

In Game: Before you move five feet in his direction Nimrod's scanners pick you up and suddenly your cell phone rings/vibrates. As you pick your cp out of its cradle to answer it, Xerxes sidles up next to you and places his mechanical hand on your shoulder and says, "Pssst. JD. Nimrod needs some space in order to do his part of the agreement you two came to earlier concerning Lt. Kessler."

In Game: Xerxes steps around to cover your profile between you and Nimrod. As he steers you past Nimrod and Kessler, you get the slightest glimps of her. D****! She even looks good in a lab coat! She appears to be listening intently to Nimrod. While you cross your fingers and hope for the best, Xerxes leads you on to where Warshemp is working on the work station's controls. He crooks his finger for you to approach him.

"Now we can start our search for the proper drop off point for your insertion into Hydrates Choas."

A view appears of outside of the compound.

"Obviously that is not the drop off point. Lights down please! Its dark over there at our target!"

The lights drop to zero illumination and a hush envelopes the darkened room.

"Team members, if you would be so kind as to approach the observation field and assist in finding the perfect insertion spot inside Hydrates Choas. Please don't block my view."

The view shifts from outside the compound to a view above Hydrates Choas. The City appears to be a beautiful mozaic of glittering lights with a size approximately that of Los Angeles on Earth. Dwarfing all other colony sites on Mars.

"As you can see this is a self sufficient city that has sunk it's roots deeply enough into Mars so as to survive without trade with Earth. How old would you suspect this city to be Lt. Doe?"

IC: For a few seconds, JD is oblivious to the fact that they are waiting for his input, because he is too busy trying to figure out exactly what 5-letter word that starts with a D he used to describe Kess earlier...
Then, after deciding that such a word cannot exist, he returns to reality only to find everyone waiting on his answer. Not really knowing what was going on, he quickly tries to find someone to take the pressure off of him.
    "Nimrod! What do you think?"

IC as Nimrod: "Don't look at me the question was directed to you."

Nimrod returns to subdude conversation with Kessler turning his back to you.

IC as Warshemp: "I'll take that to mean that you haven't a clue. Don't worry about it. The actual site was chosen for its access to water back in 1970. Since there was such a great hollow after the seperation between Mars and its former core-now known as Mercury-much of Mars' water went subterranian. Hydrates Choas has a large enough quantity of water to more than meet the needs of its population. Interestingly enough, there are locations of intellegently manufactured habitation throughout Mars. Only one of which was Cydonia."

The view drops closer to the martian surface by several hundred feet giving Hydrates Choas a more intricate appearance.

"Directly bellow is the administration center. Heavily guarded. Northwest is the science center where they have their version of what we have. We'll needed you to have a reasonable drop off point not far from there or-better yet-inside the facility itself. Tell me. Are you afraid of heights, Lt. Doe?"

IC as Warshemp: "Definately in between those two extremes. Say somewhere in the building top level. They don't have towers or skyscrapers over there like back on earth. But some of them are fairly tall, anywhere between twenty to thirty stories tall. You could set up a nice tether line from your entrance point here where the red dot is located, to the target where the shield array's central control center is located here. Let me highlight it for you."

Warshemp adjusts the red dot from the initial starting point to the tallest of the array center's cluster of buildings.

"As you can see, you have a clear shot to the uppermost one in that cluster of buildings from the first one. Since there is a minor pyrotechnic display when mass is transfered through the transfer field's aperture, you'll need to start from a more distant position. Since the array cluster is loaded with security censors, you'd do better to have that distant position be the first building I pointed out earlier to start from. Now since the starting point has four foot tall walls along its edges you'll have some nominal cover to start from. So do you think you can handle being dumped there on top of that first building, Lt. Doe?"

    TAG: Doe.

IC as Warshemp, Finnian and Gorrun: "Very well then I'll leave you to the tender mercies of both Major Finnian and Chief Master Sergeant Gorrun so they can get you familiarized with the equipment you'll be using on your mission."

"Thankyou for the handoff Dr. Warshemp," said Major Finnian. "Lt. Doe you'll accompany both Sergeant Gorrun and myself. We'll run you through familiarization with what Q has dreamed up for you."

Three hours later you are familiar with a long range gauss rifle specially fitted-among other things-with a high tension carbon fibre line for traversing between the entry point and the tallest of the force field array buildings. Other equipment includes hanging harnesses, stun weapons, hard weapons, amunition and comunications gear.

Four hours later you're prepped and ready to walk through the aperture of the transfer field. With your equipment already transfered earlier, the charge is once again full for transmission of your mass to the central building.

The field builds and the maw opens to receive you. For an instant there is disorientation and a bright flash. Next you find yourself standing on the roof of a thirty story building in the middle of Hydrates Choas. It is still night and you find your equipment neatly stacked in low level piles ready to acquire for use.

IC: JD thinks to himself, "Woah. I have got to get me one of those, too." He then proceeds to get his gear together and prep the gauss rifle for the grapple across. Trying as hard as he can to not look down, he targets the entry point, fires the grappling line, and slides down to the next building.

In Game: The inertialess mass compensator works flawlessly-saving you from being blown off the roof from the recoil-and the round inbeds itself deep into the concrete side near the top of the defence array center's central most building. Barbs pop into there anchoring position and you attach a mass resevoire to the line in order to strengthen it for the cross over. Within minutes the nanite mass redistributes itself over the line exponentially strengthening it by several orders. With your grappling trolley (with harness)you head across. With a drill, you insert 'special' pitons and climb the remaining distance to the roof top. Your infra-red dampening sneak suite negates the passive sensors. You pull out a portable computer and begin analysing your options for entry, whether by physical means or by software invasion. After fifteen minutes pass, you conclude that a lock is all that would keep you from entering through the roof hatch to the service area below. The balance of the equipment still remains on the other roof from which you came. You will need that equipment for further advancement.

OOC: Sorry for the delay. I've been very busy with distractions abounding.

In Game: After three trips back and forth you finish transfering all of the equipment over to the new location on the central defence cluster's main rooftop. That done you pull out an instrument scanner to acquire an image of the roof's subsurface features and begin the task of cutting through with a moleculer cutter. With the features of the subsurface revealed, you find your way to the interior space between the roof and the ceiling of the top floor. As you explore the space surrounding you, you find the elevator shafts not far from your location towards the center of the building's mass. You now see the perfent means by which you can gain access down towards the control center below the surface.
