JCC Gorilla mortality tracker thread

In order to better clarify the purpose of the dead pool thread, I hereby present the JCC with this thread, dedicated solely to discussing the death of gorillas.

Here you can discuss such topics as the death of Colo the gorilla, how long gorillas live in captivity, whether Harambe memes have run their course, and if that one gorilla that does the sign language is dead yet. I'm sure this will be one of the JCC's longest-running and most productive threads.

I'll get discussion started by opening with a relevant poll question.

Buddy the only scorching hot takes here are gorillas killed in wildfires. It's actually super tragic. Probably.

 

How many gorillas are killed by fire each year? This sounds like an important topic for the gorilla mortality tracker thread to cover.

Hard to pin down exact numbers, but apparently it's easy for hundreds of gorillas to come under threat if a wildfire is in a particularly poor location. The ramifications for the thread if lightning should strike dry regions in Central West Africa are staggering, to say the least.

Colo the Gorilla was an English writer of novels, biographies and travel books. HeShe was also a prolific journalist and reviewer of books. His Her famous works include the early satires Decline and Fall (1928) and A Handful of Dust (1934), the novel Brideshead Revisited (1945) and the Second World War trilogy Sword of Honour (1952–61). Colo was recognised as one of the great prose stylists of the English language in the 20th century.

 

Do you think they have Harambe and Colo and stuff in some sort of memorial for the fallen, Wocky?

Like a star on the CIA wall or something.

 

Where would said memorial be put up?

 

I don't know. I'm hoping Wocky does.

Also, and I know this is a horrid confession, but the last apes film I saw was the Tim Burton one. I just couldn't after that. Sorry Colo.

This thread is so funny. Ha ha. Treating a fellow great ape with dignity is so hilarious. Being surprised that the first gorilla to be born in a zoon has only just died, and wishing to share that bit of knowledge, is so wrong. Boy was it wrong to mention it in the thread where we discuss people who died that aren't well-known enough to get their own thread. It's so funny when somebody dies. Ha ha.
