As someone who spends quite a bit of time in Lit, most people know the old canon has been wiped out and no longer applies. The few that don't seem to be able to understand or accept that in terms of discussion are frowned upon.

Yeah I know, it just seems like there's not much interest in discussing how the different media all relate to one another. For example, if I'm in the Rebels TV thread and want to discuss how it may or may not tie into Rogue One I get little to no response. It may be that no one is interested in talking about that, but I sometimes get the feeling that I'm subtly being told that thread isn't the place for that discussion. The same applies when I try to talk about how the novels, TV, comics etc. tie into the films in the film threads. I do realize they were separated for a reason, but it would be nice to have someplace dedicated specifically to how the new media all ties together. The Lit thread is the closest thing however and that will have to do for now I guess..

Hmm. It is tricky in terms of where that discussion would go. I think the lack of interest may be due to the fact that there just isn't much info out there right now. Some of it might be due to the recent canon reset sorta killing interest in that kind of investment.

Maybe there will be more interest once the movies really take off and details are available. That's when people start making connections, when they see them. I know for a fact that when TCW episodes were coming out, or novels were coming out, people made all kinds of connections to various media, and it pretty much went on in all forums, Lit and TV, and TCW even gets brought up in PT and CT sometimes.

For example, when a TCW episode would come out, people in Lit would be like "oh, did you see the last episode of TCW? It foreshadowed ROTS" or "it used concept art from AOTC" or "there was reference to the old Marvel comics from the 80s!" I think the cancellation of TCW and the canon reset sorta curbed a lot of that enthusiasm, though.

I know there used to be some people who were diehard about how it all connected. Maybe they'll get back into it once the movies come out. Or maybe once Rebels S2 starts airing.

CT-867-5309 I certainly hope you're right. I personally love how all of this is coming together with the references from one era being used in media covering a different era. I think it really ties the PT and OT together very well. I know some people think it feels forced, but I see it as a way for my kids to fall in love with the saga the same way I did.

Technically speaking, TESB's ending sequence is silent from when Luke gets up and the last minute or so of footage. That technically qualifies I suppose

As for TPM, literally the only dialogue is "PEAAAACE!" so it doesn't really count, I suppose

What were Vader's feelings on the Rule of Two? Did he wish to end it so that he wouldn't be dependent on the Imperial bueracracy?

This is really interesting, I've never actually considered that. He definitely wanted to continue the cycle of killing his mentor/adopting an apprentice in Luke, but I can see him disregarding the rule and establishing his own Dark Jedi temple...maybe on Tatooine!

Something I've been considering lately, however...would any clones still be alive 30+ ABY? Is their accelerated growth something that fails once they reach maturity, or do they continue to age rapidly until death? I think having some old clone characters in the new trilogy would be kind of awesome. Clones ftw.

I would say that the accelerated growth continues - based on the appearance of Kamino clones in Rebels Season 2 previews - they're all white-haired and elderly-looking.

Ah, now that I've watched that it would appear you're right. Too bad.

On that topic though... it always seemed to me that if any one clone would carry out 66, it would be Rex. I find the idea of him going against Anakin strange.

You know about the Inhibitor chips right?

Anyway its possible for a clone to be alive in 30+ ABY but not active unless someone in the empire had rebooted the cloning project.

Yeah but don't the inhibitor chips only strengthen the argument that he wouldn't go against 66?

Why did TCW writers make The Separatist Council "neutral"?

If Lucas could redo ROTS he would have taken the Trade Federation ships out of the Battle of Coruscant.

I'm pretty sure that by "Trade Federation" he was referring to just the doughnut-esque battleships.

That's just absurd he'd even consider that. We already know The Trade Federation are bad guys. No need to over complicate it.

Not even sure if this is the right place, but I'm aware of theaters showing marathons of the saga before TFA. While I'd love to see it, it simply doesn't work out with my schedule (I'm lucky enough to catch the midnight premiere). Anyways, does anyone know if there will be further marathons/showings of the original six films, or is this just a one-time thing for the premiere of TFA? I feel bad knowing that I'll miss an opportunity to see the OT in theaters (I also never saw AOTC during its theatrical run).

Nothing has been confirmed other than for the 17th

I doubt this will be the last time, though. Maybe before IX's premiere, they'll have an 8 day streak of each episode and then IX, or a three day streak of each trilogy. Don't crush your hopes yet!

So here's a question, which is based on my speculation: by the time of the OT, is R2D2 an obsolete model?

I remember at some point during the OT, someone mentions an "R4." Now of course, 20 years have passed between III and IV. My line of thought is: since 3p0's memory was "wiped" but not R2's, he is basically the "brains" of the rebellion - he saw the rise of Vader first hand, the only other person to do so was Padme (dead) and Obi-Wan (hiding). Considering the Jawas are basically junk dealers and Tatooine is such a backwater place - neither the trade federation, the senate, or the eventual empire is really able to exert any control on it, it's too out of the way. So, these junk dealers bring R2 to some poor farmers at the end of the universe, certainly implies that R2 certainly isn't the latest and greatest droid.

One of Padme's escorts reads "r2d2" off his body, making it seem more like a serial number or model number than an actual name... there must be millions of r2d2's just like there's millions of Ford F150s.... so by the time of IV, though completely obsolete, he's never scrapped or deactivated because he alone has memories of young Vader (although he needs a protocol droid to communicate this to humans). There might be newer R3, R4, or even higher numbered models, but this hunk of junk is the backbone of the rebellion.

Or am I just full of crap?

I think he is outdated yes.

In TCW, the R3 series is stated to be a newer model, though we see all the way up to R7 in that series, so it might not be 100% accurate.
