Tucson Goup names.

We had a few ideas thrown around. Though we could brainstorm here. Rock on!

 

OK, just tossing something out that I didn't really think over at the meeting.

We in the South West have much in common with Tatooine (ok so just the desert part) so IMHO it should be related to that.

Jawa related
Sand person(s) This was already brought up with a great name.
Cantina
Mos Isley spaceport (It was Tucson in that long shot over 30 years ago)
pod races, jaba, twin suns, etc, etc.

I know it's obvious but thought I'd toss in my 2 Cents

 

very good assessment.. let's come up with a few ideas and then we will vote at the next meeting for our new name and design our banner. I like the idea of Tucson Raiders... but I will brainstorm and see if I can think of another as well.

 

Also, some FF chapters have user icons, once we iron out the details we can make a few ourselves.

 

We could just go with The Real Tatooine

 

ummm, maybe...Tucson-ooine?

I also really like using the word Base in our name... Tucson-ooine Base.. or Tucson Base.. or Tuskin Tucson Base.. or Mos Tucson Base

 

When Ben was showing Luke the "pace port" over looking the clif and said to Luke "Mos Eisley Spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be
cautious" supposedly (I've never really gotten a TOTAL 100% affirmation of this) the shot is of Tucson from 1975 so maybe the name "mos Eisley" should be part of the name?

 

I think Mos Eisley is already taken.. though not for 100% on that. another thought..

all this is good.. Mos Base Spaceport umm had another one.. but forgotten now...

I don't know about anyone else?s experiences but every time someone that does not live in AZ says the name Tucson reading from print they always pronounce it "Tusken"

the tusken raiders is what we all seem to go back to... I think we have to give this some real consideration. Though I still like spaceport and base and mos.

in all actuallity our desert have a alot more in common with Dantooine, the sister planet to the Jaba homeworld. Witch in fact is where most of the actuall 'illeagal' shipments and things take place. Though the Tucson,(however you wish to spell it),Raiders sounds good. We should think of how we wish to present our selvs to the rest of the Fan Force as well.

very good point made.. we have tossed this around a bit... we will have to discuss our future plans.. we know we want to have fun foremost... and also include things other than just star wars in our activities and that we want to be active in our community. This next meeting gives us enough time to delve into this I believe. I am looking forward to the discussion and what we come up with.

Just kidding, hi guys I'm new to the group and want to start attending meetings if work allows. Personally I think we should have a meeting sometime where we can have a viewing of cool SW related stuff.

 

which kewl stuff.. we all try to bring a few items we have each meeting.. if anyone has any ideas on what stuff you would like to see... by all means post your thoughts on what you are interested in viewing in the august meeting thread and we can discuss it.

I still like tucson raiders. but I still like mos and base and spaceport and docking bay as well .. this is shaping up to becoming a long discussion

 

Tucson Raiders sounds more like an Indiana Jones fan club (which I wish there was)
I think a viewing of some kind would be awesome, maybe of the Clone Wars cartoon, or I have a DVD of something everyone would like to see, but don't want to wait until November or pay 9.00 a ticket

 

It's a play on Tusken Raiders Like Rhode Squadron is a play on Rogue Squadron.
