The main things that bothered me the most was the hyperspace jump from within a gravity well and atmosphere of a planet and the total dragging of the episode. After that sky battle, the episode slowed down a bit. I would have liked it better if Ahsoka was the one in pain and Anakin had to teach himself to not be attached to her, but I guess it went the other way around. I knew Anakin would survive. ;)

    8/10 for me

At first I was bothered about that too. But I noticed that knowing about it, it gave a lot more tension (and danger?) to the moment since I didn't knew what was going to happen when jumping inside the athmosphere.

I also noticed the animation a bit stiff, even though to my surprise it was one of the latest episodes produced in Season 1.

Anyway, 8/10. I agree that it should have been Ahsoka in danger instead of Anakin. But the guy needed that heroic moment (so rarely seen).

6.5 rounded up to 7- i think this is one totally overrated episode here- everyone seems to think it's damn awesome- even GG gave more than me:eek: - I just don't like this much... maybe I fail to see the awesomeness in this supposed study of attachment problem...
It's ok episode still not bad for sure but not very good either if you ask me......

I dunno.... I like the skybattlescene and nice to see Aayla instead of Plo as third important jedi (rare nowadays)

    cons and pros:

    - I hate this whole "accidental hyperspacejump" idea......hyperspacetravel seems to be just like dusting crops in this- even if it would be so easy to "accidentally" activate hyperdrive (very poorly designed system if it activates itself so easily and cannot be deactivated faster than that) it should be far more dangerous- it they crash on some planet- come on what are the odds it is habitable and inhabitated.....

-even with SW-physics and all that few second trip from tiny star to it's tiny planet felt so absurd and unbelievable- it takes 8 minutes from light to travel from Sun to Earth..... so Maridun is extremely close to it's sun- so close it shouldn't even have atmosphere..... Usually i'm not too demanding what comes to that Lola Sayu for example didn't bother me or it's lava but this does for some reason......

-"if Ahsoka would have remained with Anakin they may have not find the village in time" what is this conclusion and where it comes from..... I see no clear reason why Ahsoka remaining with Anakin would affect to Aayla finding village in anyway.....

-after all admirals and captains we've seen by far- Aayla lacking naval officer altogether feels dumb... but that's because they had no time for all new models at the time- but there is no good IU-reason

+/- cannot decide is Aayla's french accent good or bad-
it's more personal than american accent in BF2 but bit irritating to listen:p

+Battle of Quell- nice battle there with those flying supers and all

Yes, I forgot about this too.

The going close to the star also goes with the crappiness of jumping from within a gravity well. It's not unknown that Star Wars does not agree with real world science. :p

    10, I love this episode.

From the first frame until the transport blows up on Maridun, this is all out some of the best action this series has ever had. Not only it is exciting, but it's quite well scripted, with one challenge leading logically to the next. All the action was very well directed, for a second there I almost belived Anakin was in actual danger.

When we get to Maridun, the episode certainly shifts gears, but while it's not as exciting as the beginning, it's also very good, with some nice atmosphere, and some of the best dialogues the series had had at this point.

I don't know about anyone else, but I wish the series continued on with Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship that was seen in this episode. I felt this was the only time I saw it expand. Even though the episode shows that Ahsoka is attached to Anakin, I think if it were the other way around, like I said above, it would have worked out better. Ahsoka is in trouble, Anakin must take control of his attachment issues. The only other time I saw this occurring was in Cargo of Doom.

10, I think it's one of the best episodes of the series, honestly. The opening battle was unique, tense and fun. The second part of the episode delved into some character emotions in the types of scenes that are horribly underused in the series. And all throughout, the animation and layout was beautiful. If only Katie Lucas kept herself up to this caliber of writing...

Right now I'm on the fence between 8 and 9. This episode has some parts that feel slow, but the first 4 - 5 minutes are packed with intense action, and I love the Jedi being questioned as to how they could be peace-keepers and leading a war. Hmmm...

Gave it an 8. The sky battle was okay. Decent enough story, but I have to agree with GG that Ahsoka should have been the one hurt and Anakin would be the one having to save her.

I usually hate it when they play mini-Anakin with Ahsoka, but I quite liked the decision to have her be the one dealing with attatchment issues instead of Anakin. His attatchment problem has been sufficiently dealt with throughout the SWU, I don't think it needs to be dealt with so much any more. Besides, the fact that Anakin can fight with such grievous injuries in the very next episode reinforces his status as an amazing Jedi, something that is often overlooked.

7/10 Beautiful opening battle in the skies. We rarely get to see the battleships in atmosphere, and the slugging match above the cloud layer looked gorgeous.

The thing that brought this down for me was the bloody Irish Space Lemurs. They embody every negative stereotype of a pacifist over the course of the two episodes.

Aayla Secura was nice, but I thought that the French accent wasn't very subtle in trying to make her "sexy". Jennifer Hale's regular voice is sexy, false french isn't.

I can get why people like this one.
-Normally I'd not be too fussed about the attachment issue, but I think having Ahsoka dealing with her attachment issues is a nice breath of fresh air after all the stuff we got in S3 about Anakin's attachments. I also think in this case having Ahsoka in conflict works better - do you really think Anakin would want to talk through his confusions with Aayla? And besides, he went down heroically, saving everyone else's lives in the process. Ahsoka couldn't do that.
-Maridun really reminds me of Lion King. The head Lurmen even looks like Rafiki [face_laugh]
-Liked the peacekeeping debate. Irish pacifists though? Hmm. Was that fully intentional?
-Where does the second pilot go?
-I'm also not particularly fond of the French accents.
This episode has a lot going for it, but it just left me unsatisfied. Meh. Not because it was bad, it just didn't particularly wow me. I'll be nice though and give it a 7.

There's no reason you can't do that, it's just probably not advisable so it is not usually done.

Going to have to go with seven out of ten for this one. Sure there were some weak points in the plot as others have pointed out, but by and large I really enjoyed it. The Lurmen were initially interesting, though I'll save my full opinion for the next episode thread. Regardless of anything else, though, I give the episode credit for raising the very valid question of...how do you care for someone without being attached to them? It can't be easy.

Do explain how? please.... you have this thing of protesting without any arguments.... first someone writes a wall of text and you say "no" without any arguments- not sure which one is more irritating- single smilies or your way to argue:p ...

While this episode did offer some excitement other eps doesn't- it felt totally unbelievable to me and i can almost see the character shields there around these jedi- even the lame "car (or ship) explodes just after the heroes get out" -thing was there.... from every hollywoodactionmovie... usually i like classic references but for some reason this irritated me....

even Mortis-arc remembered that it's good idea to check if atmosphere is breathable before getting out the ship- i know they didn't have time now but what are the odds that it is breathable? Very little since this was random world from random coordinates....

also it's sun looks surprisingly small on the sky considering it's very close as seen from the space:-B

Besides Aayla with her outfit together with Ahsoka and her outfit looked very ridiculous[face_laugh]

    An excellent episode.
    Aayla Secura is portrayed perfectly.
The only thing I didn't like was the random hyperspace jump that somehow gets them near a planet that is habitable.
    9/10.

I'll watch this tonight along with (argh) The Gungan General.

This is one of those few TCW episodes where the first 5 minutes is absolutely incredible and then it kinda drags from there (Zillo Beast, I'm looking at you).

There's certainly a fair number of episodes where the first 4 - 5 minutes is really fast-paced and the rest is mostly slower. Some episodes, like Dooku Captured, don't have that much left to them after that and wind up not being that great as a whole as a result. Others, like Jedi Crash or the Zillo Beast episodes, have a cerebral component that is introduced after the action is over, and these tend to be episodes that I like a lot.
