Gave this one a 10 because BADASS CLONES ARE BADASS.

Seriously, this was one of the best clone-centric stories in the series. Good clones, bad clones, clones with weird droid-toe fetishes... And man, do we need more Rex/Cody adventures. Where have these guys been the last couple of seasons?

Plus, this episode just looked plain awesome. And was a great tie-in to the movie.

    7. It was nice, but it was held back by too many things. The wooden animation, particularly the scuffle with Slick at the end and the speeder sequence. It's nice that they did cloak ruffling in the wind, but without hair doing the same it really took me out of the moment.[face_beatup]

Why is Obi Wan stupid enough to walk towards Ventress? And I'm really not a fan of Pervy Wan Kenobi.[face_tired]

Too much plot convenience as well. Did no-one in the control room hear that comlink beeping before? And I'm tired of seeing that same datapad. It's like the almighty Information Retrieval gizmo from Season 3.

Not to mention the cock-ups with dialogue, ie. calling Cody a captain and everything. That's just sloppy editing and there's no excuse for it.[face_not_talking]

On the plus side, that trooper had some serious balls to yank the head off that Tac droid.

And I'm intrigued why the OS thought people would confuse the words 'west' and 'left'.

10 from me. Good clone episode, makes good use of the possibilities for the clones, and mostly great action bits. Nice set up and tie-in for the movie, and in my mind, one of the cleanest and most entertaining explanations for a plothole (the lack of artillery in the movie). Most importantly, it doesn't spend most of its time around THAT plot point. It just tells its own story, and ties it in very nicely. Not sure if it was made with that in mind, but it works.

Also, there is a fantastically prolonged "That's what she said" scene, but I'm not saying where it is. :p

Gave it a 6. An OK episode.

I really hated the lightsaber battle, I think it borders on criminal how it's used simply as fodder in this episode. It's a real symptom of how banalized the once epic and unique lightsaber duels have become of late. The traitor plot was interesting, but it wasn't given enough time to properly develop (it might if they had not felt the need to shoehorn a lame Jedi battle into this).

    8/10.
The traitor plot could've been much better if they gave it more time (instead of lightsaber fight or even whole Ani-Obi riding).
Nevertheless, really nice episode focused on clones.

I gave it a 10. For a series called The Clone Wars, it's amazing how few episodes really focus on them. Luckily, this is one of them. I liked all the different personalities the clones showed, and the way that the plot keeps the viewer guessing who the traitor is even though all the suspects look exactly alike. Slick destroying the base's artillery was also a great way to bridge the episdoe right into the TCW film.

The side story with Anakin and Obi-Wan vs. Asajj was really well done. It's not the most exciting lightsaber duel we've seen, but it's one of the most well-done IMO. You really got the feeling that the three duelists were bitter enemies, yet knew each other so well that they were on a "first name basis." And the duel's finale on a falling Tri Droid was the icing on the cake.

Overall, the episode was very Star Wars-y and I really hope the series returns to this type of story in Season 4! [face_praying]

8.5/10 rounding up to 9/10. Loved the main 'hidden traitor amongst the Clones' plot. Thought that the sub-plot with Anakin and Obi Wan going after Ventress was reasonably well done.

This episode was another example of Dee Bradley Baker's skill at voicing the Clones. All of them came across as being distinct personalities, despite the fact that some were only onscreen for a very short time. IMO the Clone-centric stories have consistently been TCW strongest suit throughout Seasons 1, 2 and 3.

    7/10.

Probably would have bumped it to an 8/10 but going back to Christophsis was something I didn't want to do. It was jarring to see the retrograde animation compared to the leap forward we got with Trespass the week before.

The "who is the traitor?" plot was actually surprisingly well done, and I think it's very clever that Slick is considered a "traitor" (which he is), but he considers the clones to be slaves of the Jedi. Kinda wish they played this up a bit more or mentioned it in future episodes.

It was nice to have Cody actually get some screen time.

I thought the Obi-Wan/Anakin sideplot was terribly boring and Ventress just seemed off. The pseudo-sexual innuendo was a little off-putting, I guess mostly because they haven't really shown that at any other time in the series.

Really liked Anakin drawing the X and smashing the window, that was a cool moment. And the clone ripping the Tactical Droid's head off.[face_skull]

    10/10 for me.

The plaster hair in face of high speed wind was a bit jarring, but really that's a technical detail that doesn't deserve knocking the whole episode down a point. Every part of the episode was excellent from the investigation to the duel with Ventress to the way it tied in so neatly with the beginning of the original film.

And major awesome points to Dee Bradley Baker for having to voice all those clones and make us really believe they were different people instead of one person standing at a mic droning out line after line.

The droid toe thing is a reference to the real world tradition of snipers to cut off a finger of their victims as a trophy. You can't do it anymore without getting a dishonorable discharge though.

I gave this one an 8/10. Pretty solid episode, and the droids were actually threatening. Also, Slick is a dead man. I bet you once he's out of the Jedi's sight, he gets a firing squad.

    Gave it a seven.

Liked the traitor premise and the stry there was an interesting concept. This episode felt forced at times however. I did like the detective part where Rex and Cody were in the barracks with all the clones and they found the one who kept droid fingers. Everyone's reactions were classic. I wonder whatever happened with him in relation to that.....(these things bother me for some reason. :p )

I gave it an 8 out of 10 ... I really liked the episode, mainly because it felt so *real* to me, at least concerning the clones. Struck a chord with me because it reminded me of where I work at (ha ha). Slick did what I'd love to do to my RL slavers - found that uncanny ^^.
While I liked the Obi-Wan/Ventress banter, the whole encounter was a tad too long for my taste.

Don't worry he was just bit late.... and i thought Asajj Obi-Wan and Anakin duels need to be bit boring- they are archenemies- i loved the duel with flying books and all- dialogue was funny and i dunno I just like to see eps like these...

First post on the forum. I give 'The Hidden Enemy' an 8.

This episode is fun to watch and has good repeat value. The pacing is pretty good and this episode engages the mind a little. I liked the man hunt and interrogation scenes between the clones.

Chopper, the PTDS clone who collected the droid fingers seemed like a potentially interesting clone and should pop up again sometime (If he ever gets done peeling joogan fruit or whatever happens to clones who break regulations). I tend to like characters who are a little out there and off in the head.

Also, although the animation in this episode is a slide in animation quality I think the scene of Rex, Cody, Chopper and all the other clones staring at slick ready to whoop his butt is one of the more epic ones of the series.

Thanks to American Dad I'm already a fan of Dee Bradley Baker whose become even more of a favorite voice actor of mine, he does a great job individualizing the clones and making me care about them.

However the fight with Ventress bores me a bit in this episode and the dialogue between her and Obi-Wan about makes my ears bleed which is the main thing that drags it down to an 8.

Eh, kind of boring. The lightsaber battle was just...horrible and I am really tired of Christophsis at this point. Rex and Cody, however, carried most of the episode.

I gave this a 6/10 as well. I liked Slick, and I hope we see more of him, and then seeing Cody and Rex was good too. Their fight at the end was most interesting, even though the animation was meh, but it showed that Rex isn't that good with close combat. Sort of fell short with how it ended, even though Cody's punch was funny. Slick's squad was good.

The things that dragged on was Obi-Wan and Anakin's grand adventures traveling through Christophsis, a planet which is being overused in TCW, and then finding Ventress. The lightsaber fight was your typical lightsaber fight in TCW. It was nothing exciting, or worthwhile to watch. Their movements felt stiff, and Obi-Wan and Anakin must be using a strong hair gel during their BARC scenes. :p

I heartily agree that the Season 1 lightsaber battles were underwhelming overall. Aside from the ending on the Tri Droid, I agree that the choreography of the duel in The Hidden Enemy was pretty boring, but it was the dialogue/interactions between the duelists that made the fight an epic win for me. I'm as sick as anyone of the Anakin/Obi-Wan/Asajj duels, but this one really just got it right.

I think this episode was much more well received than it is now. Some of you complain about the animation, but this was one of the best of season one, in that regard.

In fact, it was a season two production.

And this was the second time we saw Christophsis, so I don't understand those complaints either.

Gave Hidden Enemy a 8. This was the second time(after Rookies) we got the different personalities in clones. With Slick we actually got one who betrays the Republic and even caused the death of his clone brothers. This guy wasn't an ARC trooper or Commander he was a Sergent if I remember correctly in command of a small squad of troopers, further proving that each clone had their own personality etc etc. Obviously we know that now with us being 3 seasons in but at the time it was definitely interesting to see. I've said it a thousand times that TCW is best when it deals with clones.

Anakin and Obi-Wan again though drag this episode down, the lightsaber duel was boring and they should of been nothing more than background characters. I don't have to mention how strong their hair gel is. Besides the Kit Fisto v.s Grievous lightsaber fight the Season 1 duels were very boring and stiff.

One of the worst lightsaber duels of the series, IMHO.

Have to point out though that the "MMA" style of fighting between the clones was rather well done and probably looked better than the Trando-Wookiee combat at the end of S3.[face_thinking]
