ST Grandfather?

Why does Kylo Ren refer to Darth Vader as his "grandfather"? That just threw me off a little bit. I guess Luke felt close enough to Han Solo that he considered him to be a brother. Or, was it a figure of speech on the part of Ren as to say that Snoke is his "father" while Vader is his grandfather in that he was such a legend?

 

Err... because he is literally his grandfather?

Huh?! Kylo calls Vader his grandfather because Vader is literally his grandfather.

Kylo's mother is Leia. Leia's father is Vader/Anakin.

To answer your question...Kylo/Ben is Leia's son mAking him Anakin's grandson. Anakin had 2 kid's Luke and Leia. Leia had a son with Han...Ben.

Of course, from a certain point of view, Darth Vader is *not* Kylo Ren's grandfather, because he was the monster whom Anakin became, and Anakin alone is the real pater familias.

For us that's been a fan for 25 years or more I think it's interesting to see these recent post and questions. Their perspectives are based on (generally speaking) a fundamental knowledge of 1-3 and limited knowledge of 4-6. Even though that's inverse chronologically. So they are more Anakin 's journey to Vadar focused whereas we are more Luke to Vadars redemption focused. Since the newer fans are less exposed to the 4-6 because of the age of production, they have less of an applicable knowledge base to draw from when asking or posting things. We must help them without ridicule because of this I think.

Luke and Leia are twins, Han and Leia are Kylo's parents, Vader was Luke and Leia's father and Kylo/Ben's grandfather.
