    I highly recommend Dark Empire

Luke turns to the Dark Side (debatable:p) and the Emperor comes back.

That's all I can think of at 0:50 in the morning :p

Twilight, Darkness, Rite of Passage or any of the Clone Wars volumes are great buys.

They just started a KOTOR series, but only the first 2 issues are out so far, so the TPB collection is a bit off.

Twilight is the beginning of Quinlan Vos' story. Twilight is a good story by itself, but if you just want to read something without getting hooked on Quinlan's awesomeness, then... maybe Dark Empire.

I didn't really like Rite of Passage that much, maybe because I didn't read the stuff before it, story-arc wise.

I really enjoyed Jedi vs. Sith.

The Dark Forces books aren't really graphic novels in the traditional sence. Sure, they're got around a dozen illustrations each, but for the most part they're normal novels.

Phantom Affair? The story might have been good but the art by Gary Erskine was hard to stomach. He just draws people (everyone: males, females, aliens) disgustingly. You'd think a basic prerequisite for being a good comic artist would be the ability to at least draw good-looking human females, but not for Gary. *shudders*

I enjoyed the early Rogue comics like Phantom Affair through In the Empire's Service far more than the later ones like Honor and Duty on. Can't say I really liked the art in Rogue Leader either...

Agreed. The latter ones should have been better because that's when they actually get into the main story of the thing. Erskine had some talent, but he just drew people ugly. The artists for the latter Fel and Isard-related stuff didn't have much talent, but could draw characters that weren't total eyesores.

Two things that bugged me about the Rouge Squadron comics:
    1) Was Xarcee male or female?
    2) It didn't seem to explain why exactly Rouge Squadron disbanded in the last comic.

The "Tales of the Jedi" graphic novels are generally considered some of the better works in this medium...Excellence's distaste of frothing mouths not withstanding.

Agreed... I picked up Tales 4 and got hooked, only missing 1 now... theres only 6 volumes out right now, and you can pick them up at Barnes and Noble or Borders if you're desperate, or find used copies on Amazon

I like the Infinities TPB's. Great "what if" stories to everyone's favorite movies.
Plus they use more of the PT stuff than the original stories do, though they don't include the all important Ep.III references because they were all written before that one came out.

Slightly off the beaten track, but you could try:

    Crimson Empire I
Jabba The Hutt: Art of the Deal
Boba Fett: Death, Lies and Treachery
Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire

All contain good stories and are totally self-contained

I'm afraid you misunderstood. I'm not talking about the "Star Wars Tales" graphic novels which are pretty "hit and miss" when it comes to quality.

I'm talking about the stories involving Exar Kun, Ulic Qel-Droma, Nomi Sunrider, Arca Jeth, et al. which came out in the mid-nineties. Despite the fact that the art in the "Tales of the Jedi" graphic novels were occasionally lacking in quality (e.g., when Nomi went around with a bald spot, looking like the poster-child for the Hair Club for Women), the overall story was pretty enthralling...and led to an modern day interest in ancient Star Wars history (e.g., the KotOR craze).
