15 years in. There's been some good stuff.

The anachronistic classic sci fi short story style:

    Ex Machina
    Moon
    Under the Skin
    Regression

    The auteur sci fi experience:

    District 9
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    Her
    Serenity

    The end of the world

    Children of Men
    These Final Hours
    28 Days Later

    The animated experience:

    The Incredibles
    Wall-E

    Survival of the Sexiest

    The Martian
    Gravity

    The Superheroes

    Spider-Man 2
    Iron Man

I love Gravity, but I wouldn't really classify it as sci-fi. It's a Humans VS Nature story that happens to be set in space.

I agree. I think its more accurate to call Gravity and The Martian space fiction, as opposed to sci-fi.

Also, Spiderman 2 and Iron Man, but no Avengers or Dark Knight?

Please allow me to temporarily be a giant obnoxious weeaboo by suggesting Paprika. That film is so gorgeous I don't even mind the subtle homophobic elements (that apparently were way worse in the source material).

Dredd has grown on me over the years. I watched several times while it was on Netflix.

Planet of the Apes is among the best science fiction of the 1960s.

The plot, and the languid pace, and the helicopter things. I thought it did a better job than Moon at telling the same story.

Of the Tom Cruise sci-fi flicks released within about a year of each other, Edge of Tomorrow is vastly superior. Oblivion bored me.
