Wash, DC Greetings from your Event Coordinator!!

Hi everyone!! I thought I'd start this general thread about upcoming events, and ideas for upcoming events. I know we've got a bunch of great ideas, which will either lead to hours of fun or to getting our names in the newspaper in the "Local Crazy People" column.

Here's what we've got coming up so far:

Life Day Party - December 7
The location is still TBD. I'm looking into the party room in my apartment building. There's also the possibility of our place again, or Tim and Jen's house. Any other ideas, please let me know!!

Nemesis premiere - December 13
Again, I think the location is TBD - I don't know where it's playing yet. We're hoping for an 8-ish show, so those of us who work can make it.

Hospital visit - no date yet.
I think this is a great idea, but the more I think about it, the more I think it may not work for around Christmas-time. There's a lot of planning to do, and not much time. Plus, people get busy really fast. It might be worth it to put this off until January. Or Valentine's Day? This would be a great thing to try to do with our other local groups - say, the Maryland FF or the 501st.

Conventions - all kinds!
I'll start a whole new thread on this. Darkover apparently approached our own Dark Jedi Kam about us helping out with security, and I'm waiting for more info from the contact at the con. It's soon - November 29- December 1. This is also Thanksgiving weekend. I'll post details on another thread when I have them. There's also EveCon in Reston VA at the end of December - the weekend before New Year's Eve.

I guess that's all for now. I'm looking forward to getting some things going - but unlike our treasurer, I'm not stepping down once this crisis is over! Bwahahahahahah!!!

I agree about the hospital thing... we are running out of time to plan it properly. There's no reason why we can't wait until the new year. Plus that gives me time to actually come up with something decent to wear...

I say we wait till the new year starts up, be better for everyone I think, we have so much coming up. like life day, TCg tournament, Nemsis.

Thanks - I hope that I can live up to the title!!! I think DC and Maryland could do lots together - especially conventions, which all seem to be n your neck of the woods!!

 

The Norfolk FF wants to do joint syuff too. JediKnight88 thier CR has talked to me about getting our groups together after the new year

oh dear. I don't wear bathing suits.

 

We can go downtown and check out the USS Wisconsin (My home state)! They have it docked next to some kind of marine/aquarium museum.

 

What else do they have there?

 

I've only been downtown and don't know the area that well.

 

The only thing I know in Norfolk is the restaurant Daryls and for all I know it's looooong gone. There's also Busch Gardens nearby.

I suppose I'll just event coordinate in the places I know (DC and NYC)....

 

get with the norfolk people, we could all go to busch gardens.

by the way Cinnea, how do you like your title?

 

Hey we could plan a day trip/caravan to NYC so we can go to the Kay-Bee (or is it a TRU?) over at Times Square. Not to mention FAO Schwartz!

 

I like my title!! At last, the recognition I deserve!! Mwhahahahahaha!!!

I also like the NY road trip idea, but I like any excuse for a trip to NYC. (Now I need the time to go) It's a loooong drive for a day trip. The KB wasn't in Times Square when I lived there, so that'd be a new adventure. Of course, Times Square used to be more of an adventure before it got all fancy.

 

Heh, yeah TS was more interesting before they went and cleaned it up.

TS has a giant TRU, which wasn't as impressive with SW stuff as I had hoped. I was just there and they have a Yoda display and that's about it...

The FAO is much better, lifesize C3P0 and Maul, a few others... But I found the Vegas FAO to be even better!

 

We could do this next year after we recover for christmas
