    Greetings!

I thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is Linda, and I?m the Regional Support Administrator (RSA) for the newly formed Pacific Region. The Pacific Region encompasses California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii.

You will be seeing me popping up on your boards from time to time. If I can be of any assistance with helping you start up an Official Chapter of Fan Force, let me know. I know you are just one meeting away from becomming official, so don't stop now! All you need is to hold one more meeting, and elect a City Rep at that meeting. The City Rep will be your representative to Fan Force, the person who will work with me to help your Fan Force Chapter grow. Just recently I went through the whole thing myself down here in San Diego. I am doing double duty at Fan Force as I am also the City Rep for The San Diego Star Wars Society.

I can also help you deal with trolls on your board. I can ban, edit and change posts for you. If someone spams you, I can clean it up. If you think someone needs to receive an official warning, please let me know. I can also post news stories for you, and post your meetings on the main page at Fan Force. This will help your group get more exposure and get more people to come to your meetings and events.

How to contact me: You can private message me here at FanForce, you can email me at MaraJade@cox.net, or Instant Message me on AIM at MJadeFan.

For emergencies such as someone spamming your forum with porn, severely bad language, threats of violence, etc. the best thing to do would be to email fanforce@theforce.net and JC-admins@theforce.net. This will blast all of the administrators, and they will help you out ASAP.

Or you can check the Users Online link and find the Admins/Mods that are online at the time. This link is directly under your user name on your screen. Click on it and find an Admin/Mod who is logged in. Then send them a PM (private message) and see if they can help you out. (Admins/Mods are the ones with the colored names. City Reps are in Blue, but they can't ban/edit other user's posts).

I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming months. If you have any questions at all about FanForce or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. If I don?t personally know the answer to your question, I will do my best to find it out for you.

    Linda Gomez
    FanForce RSA Pacific USA Region
    President and Co-Founder
San Diego Star Wars Society, an Official Chapter of FanForce!

    Welcome Linda/Mara_Jade_ Fan!
How is the Fanforce in SanDiego? I've been thinking of moving down in the next 6-8 months. It would be nice to be around some fans down there.

^You'd be very welcomed in San Diego if you moved down. Right now our Fan Force is one of the fastest growing and most active in the Pacific Region. We also just started our new Website which can be found at http://www.SanDiegoStarWars.com. Since our inception in April of this year, we have been on TV numerous times for the midnight madness event at Toys R Us, we worked the San Diego premier of Episode II, we organized line events, we have been on the radio, and are in the process of organizing lightsaber construction workshops etc. We are having a blast! We are of course very busy now getting ready for the San Diego International Comic Convention. We have been donated a table for the convention which will be in Hall A, on "Fan Club Island." In conjunction with the 501st, and Rebel Legion, we are also going to have at least 3 Star Wars actors at our tables to sign autographs... busy... busy... busy.

And for everyone else in Portland, you can have just as much fun as I'm having here in San Diego. Our club has only been around since April and already people in the city are recognizing our group. I walked into a threatre to see AOTC last month and a lady asked me, "Are you from the San Diego Star Wars Society..."... that was great... people actually know our groups name!

    Linda :)

    SWEET, Linda, it's you!!

Do you remember me at all? I interviewed you for my book on The Phantom Menace, way back. I actually used a lot of your commentary in the final book, including quotes from the journal you kept in line. Unless you are not the same Linda Gomez, but that would seem hard to believe ;)

Anyway, it is good to see you. It's too bad the book has not sold to a publisher yet, but at the very least it will become an e-book in the next several years if all else fails. My agent owns ereads.com, an e-book publisher, so that is what we are thinking we'd do with the book if I don't get a book deal for a second or third book, which may help my chances for this first.

That's so funny to run into you here after this long of a period of time, hehe.

Well I'd love to hold another meeting here with this PDX group. I was thinking we should all meet at Tigard 11 Cinemas. It's not very close to me, but it's really the only main place left playing AOTC and it's where I have to drive to now. I went there Saturday.

I have been at both of the first two meetings and plan to attend the second. I would love to be the city's representative, but only if other people would want to have me as that. Otherwise, I'm sure we will find another dedicated fan, but I would enjoy the opportunity if and only if the other members were cool with it.

The good thing is, I've seen AOTC 42 times, so I'm quite die-hard, hehe, and I have been known to go insanely long distances in the name of Star Wars (first, Washington, D.C. for the Smithsonian Exhibit in its 2nd week of a five-year program that toured the nation eventually, and then to Denver, CO for SWC I, and then this year to Indianapolis, Indiana for SWC II). Also, Erik (JediWookie) and I are planning to make a Webpage for Fan Force PDX which I can host for free on my dedicated Web server at RackShack (400 gigs of transfer per month is what I get total; it's a business server for me).

Anyway, we'll see, but I'm offering if other people would think that acceptable.

    ^Jonathan!

Of course I remember you! 42 times seeing AOTC huh? That is awesome! Have you seen it digitally? 7 of the times I have seen it has been digitally, and I refuse to see it any other way now. Unfortunately they are no longer player AOTC on digital screens down here in San Diego. (They are playing Lilo & Stitch digitally - can you believe that?!?!?!?!?) I was at the Celebration in Indianapolis as well, maybe we ran into each other and didn't even know it. I was wearing my brown Jedi robes and was carrying my Jeff Parks Blue-bladed lightsaber. Sounds like Portland will have an active chapter of FanForce really soon! If you need any help, or just want to chat, you can PM me here, or at MJadeFan on AIM. Thanks for updating me on what was going on with your book!

    Linda :)

Sweet, I added you to my AIM list. I'm on almost constantly, hehe. Most of what I do requires that I'm around the computer a fair amount, if not in the movie theater I suppose.

I have not had the chance to see AOTC digitally, I am so bummed about that. Oregon has NO digital theaters, not even one in the entire state. It's just stupid because Portland is such an advanced city! We were named one of the 10 most wired cities not too long ago, then Portland won "best city in the U.S." as far as places to live, haha, which I dunno... I think I disagree with that. But whatever, that is nice they think that anyway ;) I prefer the nice weather conditions of San Diego to be honest, lol. That is a great city, a step above Los Angeles to me because of the smog and the, uhh, I dunno, general snobishness of some of the people there. I lived in LA for 5 months this last year for college... I am going to Oregon State University next year, though. I didn't like my college in LA, hehe.

Yeah, I wish I could report better news about the book, because a lot of people sacrificed time to help me out with it, not to mention I put about 1,000 hours of my time into the darn thing, but it's ok. At least it got me a literary agent! It was quite amazing. My literary agent actually represents Leonard Maltin of Entertainment Tonight too, who has personally endorsed my book. Last July he made a two-sentence comment for us to use with publishers or on the bookjacket, etc. That was great, so I was just really surprised that we still couldn't sell it. Mostly it was like, "Blah blah, this book doesn't meet our list," or you could tell the editor was biased against the movie and therefore thought the story didn't deserve telling or something.

It's disappointing because I think the story of TPM is so interesting. Not the story IN TPM, the movie (which I also find very interesting, hehe), but I mean the entire real life events surrounding it were quite unprecedented and deserve to be told in book form. Someday, I hope to see it available like that, and if it becomes an ebook, that wouldn't eliminate the possibility of a real book either.

Back to digital, well I do know how nice digital looks from SWC II when we got to see like 7 minutes of footage from the movie, wow! That was so cool. I was going to drive up to Seattle to see AOTC digitally, but the Cinerama there only played it for a lousy 4 weeks. I was going to come up around week 6 or so, but grr... No luck.

I will see Episode III digitally, guaranteed. I wish I lived in a place like LA where I could say, "Yes, I have seen TPM and AOTC digitally, whoo hoo!" But alas, no.

I will drive to Seattle for the IMAX release, if we get one, and in fact we could/should organize some FanForce PDX trip up to Seattle! That would rock so much. On a weekend, perhaps.

    Jonathan,

The Seattle Star Wars Society (Seattle's chapter of FanForce) is organizing a group of people to see AOTC on Friday, July 26th at the Cinerama. Maybe you want to drive up for that? Check out the Seattle board of Fan Force for more information.

Wait, AOTC is playing at the Cinerama now?

It left after four weeks for this film contest they had up there, but if it's back... that'd be really cool!

I would like to do that. Let me see about this, because I'd kinda need a friend to come with me.

FYI - I will be going to New Mexico to take care of some personal business from Wed. Nov. 20th - Mon. Nov. 25th. I will still check the boards daily while I am gone. But if something comes up and you need immediate assistance, please contact Voiddancer, (Bill) the RSA for the Southwestern Region. You can find him on the Phoenix Arizona FanForce boards.
