    Story on ESPN.com

A good move for the Padres. Beyond what he brings on the mound, what he'll bring to the heads of the young pitchers and the clubhouse there could be worth his salary alone.

Still, 10 million for a pitcher that old is quite a chunk.

The link is broken on Espn.com right now. However, as a Giants fan I think this move evens out in the division. The Dodgers, our hated rivals lose a decent pitcher, which weakens them. The Padres, then gain a decent pitcher which strengthens them. So, the Padres with Maddux's baseball knowledge and pitching talent are stronger now as a division opponent and the Dodgers are weaker.

Meh, all the Dodgers need to do is sign Schmidt or Zito, and then things will be well.

My bad. The link is not broken. All the links just appear as text at the top of the page so you have to scroll way down to get to the actual story.
