It is just for 5. Echo and 99 weren't dead when he had that tattoo in ARC Troopers. Now I guess it can have a bigger meaning if you want to think that way.
SpecialOps is right. It is just a tatoo of his number in Domino Squad. But it is nice IMO if that number is also meant to symbolize the number of close clone friends he lost. But he has befriended Rex and he did befriend Hardcase who died...
The tatoo is definately supposed to be his name but the symbolizm idea is cool. He says he's not just another number cause of how losing his squadmates have effected him. Fives does seem to do alot of his dissanting to prevent more of his brothers from dying, particularly Rex who he seems to have a sorta father and son like relationship with. In fact I often imagine the children Rex refers to in "The Deserter" are Echo and Fives.
Such events that Fives has lived through would make anybody dissenting and distrusting to the whole war process. The father/son analogy with Rex and Fives sounds about right.
If Gregor ends up sacrificing himself to be a hero, I'm going to be extremely disappointed. The dude, for whatever reason, seems to not know who he is. The very notion of Gascon strolling in and giving him some patriotic pro-Republic speech and Gregor just jumping on board - which seems like it's going to happen - already irritates me. But Gregor making the ultimate sacrifice for 4 droids, a slug-frog and a Republic that he doesn't remember/shouldn't care about would push my tolerance meter to its limit. "Hey you, Canadian hobo. You're really an American citizen. You're parents both served honorably in the army. It's in your blood. Now go and fight for that country that you have no reason to care about. It's your patriotic duty!"
I think Gregor is going to survive the arc at this point. I think he's going to turn out to be a more important and deeper character than alot of us are realizing. Just watching the short clip and looking at his gestures. He reaction to seeing the mirror that is Rex in the holo. The way he tries to touch Rex and then reaches and seems to grab his heart. Ya know, it reminds me of that scene from the cartoon movie Balto where the wolfdog sees the white wolf and howls with her. I feel genuinely sorry for Gregor who has apparently lost his memory and been forgotten and left to live alone in a slum. He couldn't be more different than the last stray clone we met, Cut Lawquane. I dunno. Where have I heard a lecture like that before? I'm no Canadian and I only have short term memory loss but I've heard something like: - "Your an America citizen, your father and your father's father served in the military. Your aunt served to. Its in your blood. Now go and fight for freedom!" - before. Sad if even without his memory Gregor can't choose.
Solid preview; it sure makes the upcoming episode look quite interesting and I can see the connection with Cut in 'The Deserter'. This is certainly shaping up to become a good episode.
Gregor evidently regains his memories and his motivation to fight for the Republic (on droidekas: "I remember how much I hate these guys!"), so it may not be too sudden a leap from the mentality of a struggling dishwasher to that of a Republic Commando.
Scrub them dishes aggressively, man! Likely lost his memory but not his personality. Gregor's memories will probably be cured with a 5 minute quick fix.
Now your just mocking me again. Yeah like that. Barcodes IRL can also receive data. The little swipe will probably fix all the problems.
TCW could also go the cliche route of Gregor hitting his head again. Bam! Would fit with the Looney Tune stuff in this arc.
When did Hawkeye hit his head? Riza Hawkeye? viewer discretion (Move your mouse to reveal the content) viewer discretion (open) viewer discretion (close) ] I still think Gregor will turn out to be an interesting character and more important than he seems. I mean Void was pushing the messages of sentient and existance and programming vs. training. Fits well with the clone arc in TCW. There is also a good bit of attention to detail put into Gregor's gestures IMO. Still find it amusing he grabs at the holo's heart. A barcode scan fixing everything would be a revelation as well. Could such a thing be used on a clone who becomes too independent?
So... can someone explain this Gregormania that seems to be sweeping the forum? I mean, so froggy and the droids run into some amnesiac clone. I mean, y'know, I guess that's pretty interesting and all, but I just don't see what the big hairy deal is.
-shrug- For me. I'm a clone fan and I'll take what I can get this season. So I'm in over my head in Gregormania. It may well just be this guy shooting battle droids. Really, my hope is as I stated in my previous post Gregor adds something to TCW's overall clone arc. Maybe foreshadow some things and there is alot of contrast between him and "The Deserter" from what I've seen. The opportunity is there.
Because many people love Clone Commandos, whether it be from the books or the video game. And this is the first time we're going to see one in action in TCW. Frankly, I braced myself to accept that it's probably going to be anti-climactic and that he's probably not going to do anything unique that any other clone couldn't do, he'll just be doing it in commando armor.
Honestly the Clone Commando thing only has me so excited. Sneaking aboard a Separatist ship and escorting droids still would have been a good job for Fives. I'm going to remain optimistic for Saturday. TCW is one thing that isn't going to rain on my parade.
I just played some Republic Commando again AND I just noticed... Gregor's visor is messed up and wrong and does not make sense. The entire visor is supposed to be blue...
